Shitty ass tourism can survive even without those cavemen

Isolating russian citizens is not going to end the war, it will help Putin indoctrinate them even more

    3. Potential-Focus3211 on

If Russians stay in Russia, then they’re funding the Russian war machine.

If Russia loses and European countries become more tourist-competitive then Russians will fund the European defense industry instead.

I see that as an absolute win for europeans.

I mean, France :)) … wow. I get the rest of the bunch, but France is a bit of a surprise tbh.

Greece probably just wants the tourist money, i’m surprised Cyprus wasn’t part of it.

    6. Is this the same Spain and France who are ready to kick out every jew/israeli from their country?

    7. Bloomhunger on

Shameful… aren’t they complaining about too many tourists already? Not Hungary ofc, we know why they’d block it.

    8. No_Tiger_5645 on

Shamful 🙁 But be honest, even the bigger restriction would not stop Russian billionairs to treat Europe as their big hotel.

Seeing people on Reddit say all Russians should be banned from ever entering the EU or deported is wild. Trapping them inside only strengthens the regime and its propaganda. And the blatant xenophobia calling ordinary people “animals” doesn’t help btw

I have distant relatives and friends living there. Trust me, a HUGE chunk of the youth is against the regime. But it’s not so easy to overthrow a dictator and risk your family being put in the gulag is it?

    10. Good.

Banning Russian tourists would do absolutely nothing save for bolstering Russian economy as they stay there, bolstering Russian military as they have more people to recruit, and draining the EU of the tourist money they spend.

Money makes the world go round, the world go round. Cabaret.

France must think the russian mafia money will balance their budget

    13. BalticBrew on

If we don’t have the balls to ban russian tourists outright, let’s make the visa 500 euros per person and then officially state that all the money collected will go straight to military support for Ukraine. At least something good will come of it then.

    14. LewisCarroll95 on

Isn’t it good for Russian citizens to spend money in the EU? It’s less money staying in Russia and going to the EU

    15. DefInnit on

But but but doesn’t Europe have an “overtourism” problem? Solved, so welcome, Russkies.

    16. ForestDweller82 on

Why is literally every single post from OP’s account about russia?

    17. Zeganoff on

That’s how they fight; until the war comes to Europe, no one will wake up.

      Isn’t that a fake?

The article references just a main page of a website, not a source.

Similar news were published pronews , https://www.pronews.gr/amyna-asfaleia/ypex/i-ellada-gia-proti-fora-apo-to-2022-ethese-veto-stin-ee-se-apofasi-pou-thigei-ta-symferonta-tis-rosias/, which also had a fake-posting twitter account as a sole source.

And in one month time, we will read how there are russian operatives in europe yada yada yada

Good. Several of my friends are Russians living in the EU in political exile. My best friend was thrown in jail in Russia for attending a protest, as a tiny 20 year old blonde girl. People deserve a chance to flee Putin’s regime and live a lawful documented life in a democratic society.

As a Russian emigrant living in Serbia I’m really glad to hear it. We left the country in early 2022 because of shame and desire to stop paying taxes there. We got Schengen visas twice this year: once for driving to Georgia via Bulgaria and another time to visit our friends in Munich. Before this year I’ve never been to the EU. We’re pro western and pro EU and against the aggression our country is waging against the neighboring nation. Banning visas would totally make us much less pro EU.

Spain kind of forgot they took moral highground regarding Israel. Bad script.

*In the summer of 2024, a series of break-ins occurred at water supply plants and towers in Finland, raising concerns about security, though the National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA) stated there was no immediate impact on the security of supply. While the incidents did not involve theft or overt vandalism, their coordinated nature led to speculation they were part of a “gray-zone aggression” strategy by Russia to destabilize the country and create public anxiety. Authorities have increased cooperation and vigilance to protect critical infrastructure.*

*The intruders did not steal anything or cause significant damage, suggesting a purpose beyond traditional criminal acts.*

*Experts and commentators suggested these actions could be part of a broader Russian strategy to create fear and destabilize Western nations through non-military means*

*The widespread and organized nature of these incursions, along with the lack of traditional motives, pointed to a planned and coordinated campaign, not random acts by criminals.*

Have fun with your tourists. Water is safe.

    24. Valuable-Flounder692 on

Yea let’s get the tourism revenue, let’s ignore that the vast majority of the Russian population are supporting this war in Ukraine. Hypocrites.

    25. StringTheory on

I’ll take who makes money off russian tourists for 500.

    26. DasistMamba on

It would be utterly hypocritical to ban visas but continue buying Russian gas and oil. At least the money from tourists stays in the EU.

    27. mr21sevage on

Questionable source. Perhaps we have to wait for quality press news about it.

    28. “I’ve been looking into it and it seems the information was published yesterday by the Greek outlet ProNews, but I see that Reuters, AFP, AP or Euronews haven’t reported on it yet, nor are there any official statements from politicians of those countries about this.

Does anyone know if this is 100% verified? I find it strange that the r/europe moderation team allowed something like this to be posted without confirming it first.

    29. According to statistics, Russian tourists spend an average of 1,300 euros per day, and the average tourist spends 567 euros.(c)

What? I usually spend 1300 euros for 2 weeks’ accommodation for my whole family in Provence, just near the sea.
