I hope we in the EU can keep this momentum going and get sanctions going against Israel and get them banned from competing in EU sport.
I would hope Germany would have the decency to not block collective action. I’m afraid the EU will be damaged without a more muscular response to genocide from a country like Israel with which we have a lot of levers to pull.
Germany’s support for Israel during a genocide has already damaged my own support for the EU and my belief in it as a slow motion mechanism for good.
It will take years for sanctions to bite. It took 20 years with south Africa. But we have to stand up together and say you can’t murder 14000 little Palestinian children in a rage and slowly starve and punish 2m for the despicable attack by the hamas scumbags on Oct 7th and expect us to give you a friend pass.
We would lose our sense of self in the world if we become just another hypocritical block of nations looking the other way for convenience.

This thing gives me so much anger, when they will recognize a palestinian state there will be no more palestinian land, Israel is currently entering Gaza with the tanks and plans to stay, and their are occupying the West Bank too. Meanwhile the hostages will all be killed, this is truly the worst outcome.

Well, another radical Islamic state in the Middle East controlled by terrorists, that’s what Europe should recognize, right?

And all it took was the destruction of Palestine.

Doesn’t matter. Israel doesn’t care, and frankly they shouldn’t. We would be rewarding Hamas. Doesn’t matter how it’s spun.

Ok but how about placing an embargo on Israel? Maybe close their airspace? Can we do that please?

Recognizing Israel as a state committing war crimes is more important short term. Cut all trade ties with Israel. Boycott every sports event with Israeli participants (and vote in relevant orgs like fifa to ban them). Refuse entry to travellers.

The situation with Palestine has existed since decades ago. Why did all these European countries suddenly start recognizing Palestine? Why not much earlier? This seems to me like weak leadership and playing it safe, as usual.

Recognizing Palestine means, they can bring ppl back there. Palestinians spreading all over the world with no passports means countries – western countries – will have to keep them.
Recognizing Palestine as a state means, Palestinians have a citizienship and can be sent back.
But the question is – what boarder and what government are recognized.

Which government?
Which borders?
Do they fully accept the PA’s evils (such as pay to slay) or ignore it for political convenience meaning that nothing will ever change
Edit:
The Iranian High Command has gone rabid, gonna mute, have funnn!

Shame that the original European position: only recognise Palestine when the Arabian states recognise Israel, seems to be gone. This will make lasting peace harder, sadly.

I’m sure that’ll come as a great comfort to them while Israel is openly plotting to annex the West Bank and razing Gaza to the ground.

So when are you helping us get rid of Hamas

Sad to see Europe caving into pressure thanks to emotional manipulation. A Palestinian state won’t be an egalitarian democracy but a radical islamist state seeking the total destruction of Israel.
That whole concept is so alien to European politicians they can’t understand why Israel is occupying Gaza in the first place.

I wonder what’s getting them in return for doing all this shit ? Recognising Palestine today is equal to recognise hamas as Palestine‘s govt

As a German I want to apologize for some of those insane comments by some of my countrymen. You can tell by their hatred what they would have voted for in 1933.
