    1. 50 dependents 🤦‍♂️ the children they’d accepted were unlikely to ever be returning, but to allow them to take 5 dependents each is a joke. Just more costs to take on…

    2. Ten children.

      Fifty dependants.

      The math isn’t mathing there

      > the healthcare system in Gaza had been “decimated and hospitals are no longer functioning” with severely ill children “unable to get the medical care they need to survive.”

      > Every child deserves the chance to heal, to play, to simply be able to dream again.

My question to these views is, well when does it stop? If this truly is the case then why aren’t we running free flights to all third world countries to gather up all the sick children (and all their family members) for free NHS treatment. Let’s just let them all in…
Or has somebody decided that just doing it for ten children from Gaza ticks a box and says “well we did our bit, look how good we are” and had decided it’s enough? Which just makes the above statements look a bit silly.

    4. Christ, what a miserable set of replies this article has generated.

We’re talking about 10 children who are on the verge of death here, being brought from a war zone to the UK to receive necessary treatments. But so many people have had their brains thoroughly rotted away by anti-immigration slop that they can’t demonstrate an ounce of compassion and empathy in this situation, and instead instantly turn to whining about immigrants.

So tired of this. This is the sort of act which makes me proud of this country, but all the plastic patriots use it as another excuse to be perpetually miserable and angry.

Would it not be more effective to setup hospitals in Gaza under direct UN military control and stop Israel bombing them?

Is this part of the Irish scheme where effectively these are now refugees and will remain in the UK? It seems to support the Israelis end goal of depopulation of Gaza!

65 thousand Palestinians killed and r/unitedkingdom having a tantrum in the comments because 10 kids and their families have been allowed over to get medical treatment….

And they’ll be sent on to their new home countries when we’ve fixed them up, right?

    8. fitzgoldy on

Children and dependants…they won’t be sent back so then it will be the families of the children and families of the dependants and then further family members etc.

      What an absolute joke.

You want to support wars you need to be willing to take in some of the refugees it creates. Go out and press against the war if you don’t want their causalities coming here. You can’t stop a refugee crisis by closing your borders. The only way to stop is to stop the war.

Wouldn’t be needed in the first place if the healthcare infrastructure in Gaza has not been systematically destroyed.

Honestly im tired of seeing areas with less and less English people. Some areas are just full of Indians and other non British. Its a bit creepy i feel.

I really dont understand why the navy doesnt blockade the channel

If you don’t like it, tell Israel to stop bombing them.

I think there needs to be a sensible conversation here. It seems to be the case now that anyone at all who comes to Britain for help is viewed as a problem. These aren’t economic migrants coming from a country that’s just poorer than ours . The IDF have literally reduced their homeland to rubble and is now continuing the offensive to make the rubble bounce. Wtf is wrong with people?
