  1. As someone who uses the 4-Fahren-Karte, I wonder how much that will increase to decide whether D-Ticket is worth it or not.

  2. iTmkoeln on

Fewer people will subscribe to it. I give it till 2027 and the HRE of Verbünde will return because the Union never wanted it…

  3. ulashmetalcrush on

Ahh yes exactly as the same as the official inflation 😁

  4. FriedIce14 on

They’ll keep increasing it annually after 2026 I believe? For anyone who commutes daily, Deutschland ticket is still relatively less expensive in the grand scheme of things, really! But for how long will this remain the case?

  5. shadowminds97 on

I honestly don’t mind that the price of the Deutschlandticket will go up starting January 2026. I’ve been working in Germany for a year and this ticket has been incredibly useful for me. I’ve traveled to so many places with it – I even did Munich to Berlin once (not the best idea, but it is possible 😅).

In my home country there’s nothing like this, and realistically there never will be. That’s why I think people should really appreciate what an amazing initiative it is. It makes traveling affordable, connects the whole country, and at the same time it contributes to protecting the environment.

  6. Meanwhile, a monthly ticket covering London’s zone 1 to 6 costs £313.40.

It’s okay but much too early. They should have waited at least till summer 2026.

Job is paying 1/2, so I won’t get one when it’s more than 39 Eur each. That’s my magic line. I can’t use it regularly anyway as rural people 🚆 🫣

  8. Big_Appointment709 on

    Definitely ok.

My work is literally just one train station away from where I live and Tariffgebiet? is one time higher 😅

So if I pay 56€ for a Monthly Ticket for where I live, it will be 111€ from home to Work. And like I said it’s just one train station away 😅😂🤣

Fun fact: in Hungary there is a similar country-wide ticket option for ca. 48EUR, considering the sizes and the rainway networks of the countries, the Deutschland ticket still worth it in this comparison.

My salary has not increased. It’s unfair. I think it’s a lot of money. I keep being able to afford less… not happy about it.

  11. Tango_Bravo_327 on

I think this is about the price point where it starts making sense for me to pay as you go.

  12. Argentina4Ever on

I always strongly believed Germany had one of the most overpriced public transport in the world, the 9 Euro Ticket and then the original DE Ticket finally made it sensible again but as we can see it is only a matter of time until it’s no longer worth it.

I remember right before the 9 Euro Ticket was introduced it was genuinely cheaper to just buy a cheap entry level car than it was to pay for public transport. One of those things that makes no sense in this country.

  13. evawinter9 on

hi, which is the best, semester ticket or Deutschland ticket?

  14. Commune-Designer on

U gotta be more passionate and hate the increase. It’s okay tho, you might not be familiar with how things work around here: If you’re not vocally against it, next time it will be 10 euro more. If you make baseless threats like „I’m going to cancel it now!“ or „never going to vote for xy again!!!“, next time it will be only 5 euro more.

So, please delete and rage a bit with us. It’s important!

As other fellow redditors said, the plan is to reduce the demand. In my case it’s still cheaper than the monthly ticket of just the city where I live, so I’m still subscribing, as I assume many others, fewer than the ones nowadays, but most likely still profitable. Imo the infrastructure couldn’t stand so many travelers and the DB has been a bigger catastrophe than usual partially because of that, so perhaps this measure could partially alleviate that. We’ll see.

  16. IX_Equilibrium on

Ticket for Lisbon and Setubal district alone is 40€. This is still amazing considered you can use it all over the country.

  17. Fluid-Quote-6006 on

That’s like 5€ less than the regular monthly ticket, that allows to take kids, take an adult on the weekend and can be used by multiple persons because it has no name….I can see families that can work a mix from remote-office switching to the regular monthly ticket

  18. DeHereICome on

Personally, I wish there was some sort of Bavaria ticket that includes Austria or even parts of Switzerland.

Even as it is the ticket is not really worth it for me, but I still buy it for the convenience.

  19. theyll keep increasing the price until morale improves and the Bahn is magically fixed

  20. agrammatic on

I continue to believe that they would have been better served by introducing a minimum contract period, rather than raising the price.

This is a commuter-focused products. We choose it because we want to have the convenience of the flatrate and not worry about buying and validating tickets on the go. In exchange we accept that some months we use it less than the break-even point.

  21. Invest_help_seeker on

Wait till you see the high costs in Netherlands for a train network the size of Baden Wuttenberg

  22. brokenraver on

it would be fine if the trains were not always fucking late AND OR canceled but yet better than the monthly one. it was very expensive

  23. Berlin AB was 63€ before the Deutschlandticket. So, for me, it now costs the same as before, because I don’t use it anywhere else.

  24. canaanit on

So it’s around 15 € a week. I use the bus several times a week to get to the swimming pool and to the start of my running route. I also travel to neighbouring cities at least once a month. It is still really worth it for me.

But yes, the whole political situation is frustrating, there is no long term plan.

  25. Skygge_or_Skov on

Yay, more money for highway extensions like the A100 for idiots with cars, instead of affordable transit for poor, kids and people too sick to drive cars!

  26. PercentageIcy2512 on

Still cheaper and more useful than a Ticket2000 in the VRR region (if that type of ticket is still available at all) but the quality of service is also still on thedecline (delays and cancellations)

  27. Simpson93 on

That’s fine, if we don’t talk about the reliability of our trains.

The only thing that’s bugging me personally is that it only makes sense if you are commuting. If i want to go to the city on a weekend and it’s a last minute decision then it’s too expensive.
So instead of going to the city by bus i take the car which just sucks in the city for everyone.

I’m still for the 9€ ticket and everything else get’s paid by our income tax. At least something i would be glad about paying from my salary.

  28. This stupid idea that the ticket price has to finance the service had to due already. Offering the ticket at this price isn’t for convenience, it’s an investment.

With an affordable ticket, people can go die jobs far further away without having to rely on a car. For me, it doubles the radius I’m searching in (25 km → ~50 km).

With the ticket, I take my family on weekend trips and bring business to other places, without having to rely on a car.

And obviously it’s also just incredibly convenient.

Somebody should crunch the numbers and try to find out how much money the ticket is generating. Probably not ready to determine. So I guess it’s fair to let the whole idea die. Can’t be properly used to launder money anyway. Masks and weird car lobby stuff probably had much more potential to make corrupt politicians rich.

  29. This feels like the frog in the pot with the water gradually getting hotter until it boils. Yes, we can afford 49, 58 and 63€. We can’t afford the grumpy wealthy car owners dictating the future of the country

  30. lost_in_uk on

    Perfectly fine.

From an environmental point of view, you don’t want to maximise the number of train journeys but rather increase train use for journeys otherwise made by car. It’s still a whole lot cheaper as the monthly commuting tickets in metropolitan areas. And it’s still a lot cheaper than running a car.

The big game changer from my point of view is the ease of use with no worries about what areas or number of stops are included in a given ticket.

  31. I agree, before the D ticket, paying for a one month train ticket was much more expensive.

  32. Independent_Pitch598 on

Would be nice not to have strikes and delays first.

  33. StatisticianMain7488 on

The price is still reasonable as you will get good value out of it. Nonetheless there was already a price increase lately, so i suppose some responsible ppl have just miscalculated the first price increase a bit.
