The craziest part to me is that they lived there for a couple of decades, I’m sure the same can be said for a lot of people that’s only ever heard about wars and terrorism in the country.

The story of this couple is heartbreaking and harrowing.
The taliban are backwards, caveman, brain damaged monsters. This elderly couple have dedicated themselves to decades of improving standards of living and education for young afgans, especially women and girls.
in return, they are imprisoned without charge and have been held in horrific conditions, denied medication and sufficient food, almost dying.
for what? to be used as leverage to get bounties lifted on some taliban shitheads.
truly, this group are awful subhuman trash that needs to be deleted from the planet asap.
I get you want to stay in a place you’ve made your home for 20 years but living in a country ruled by the taliban and having a British passport sounds way too risky for shit like this to happen

>A Taliban official said **Peter** and Barbie **Reynolds** were handed over to the UK’s Special Envoy to Afghanistan, **Peter Reynolds**, who was pictured with the couple aboard their flight to Qatar.
Good to know BBC editorial standards are as good as ever. Richard Lindsay is the special envoy.

Why don’t they just release them. I don’t get what’s going on
At the same time as this article, UKPolitics sub post up a thread about how “the threat from the taliban is exaggerated” re. Asylum seekers, lol.
This is actually a positive story in and amongst all the insane depressing shite swirling around right now. Can we savour it?
