**The death of one man is a tragedy.** **The death of millions is a statistic.**

      >Russia and Ukraine have exchanged the bodies of more than 1,000 soldiers who have fallen in battle, Ukrainian authorities have said.

      >The vast majority of the bodies were received by Ukraine from Russia, while the bodies of 24 Russian soldiers were handed over by Ukraine.

On the one hand, the 1-to-50 ratio looks like a complete Russian advantage, but this only means that the Russians are keeping the battlefield and collecting their own dead, and the real ratio of casualties from external sources can only be obtained indirectly.
At a recent closed meeting of his party, Zelensky announced that Ukraine plans to switch from active defense to a counteroffensive and regain the Donbas and lost territories.
It is also becoming increasingly clear that fewer people are needed for defense, as drones create a kill zone, and recent innovations such as AI-powered group drone control allow the defending side to counter the enemy more effectively, while artillery bombardments and hand-to-hand combat become less effective.
This should be taken into planning by European countries when developing their weapons development and procurement strategies.

War is ugly and this is a reminder that generally the common people on all sides are the greatest losers as generals and politicians play their war games from safety.

    6. Good. There more humane a war is, the better it is for all of us.
