    I don’t see any svastika’s, therefore i don’t think germans get offended.

lol how would a dirndl be offensive? but tbf it was kinda silly to spend a lot of money either way. could’ve gone to a Humana / other second hand store or sth

You are going to a very touristy event – you can wear a T-shirt with a Dirndl and no one would care

Your question implies you have been indoctrinated in matters of „cultural appropriation „…that is not a big topic here – so wear what you want, people generally do not care

People in Munich invented Dirndl as a tourist attraction 100 years ago. Just buy one in Munich, that would be “authentic” and as non offensive as any other solution

It does look rather touristy but then again you are a tourist and while some locals might rise theie eyebrows, 99% of people will probably just ignore it because they are either tourists themselves or used to seeing hundreds of thousands of tourists every year.

Nobody gives a crap. What’s with people and their “this is offensive” shit. It’s only offensive if YOU give a crap if other people wear traditional clothing of other countries. Just go ahead and wear it.

It’s perfectly fine and much better than some of the stuff people wear.

I doubt anyone will take offense to you wearing this. They will probably laugh at you though. Is there a reason you want to dress in cheap/knock-off traditional clothing? I promise you, it won’t make you “fit in.”

Don’t worry about offending anyone. I am new in Munich, but I have not heard that Octoberfest puts heavy emphasis on regional authenticity or anything . Maybe a Trachtverein is a different story about southern/vs northern Bavaria.

It is more important to enjoy yourself and look good.

  11. You will get a side eye for wearing one of the beer or chicken hats, but not for wearing something like this. It’s perfectly fine, don’t worry! 🙂
