On the peace proposal front, I keep seeing ridiculous proposals from Russia and noises from various parts of the West. I would love to see Ukraine pose a peace plan like this and propose to have negotiations start with it:

1. Ukraine’s 1991 borders restored.
2. All Ukrainian citizens returned.
3. Russia must pay full reparations for damage to civilian infrastructure.
4. All claims to Ukraine in the Russian Constitution must be removed.
5. Ukraine must be granted NATO membership.
6. Ukraine must be granted EU membership.
7. The USSR’s permanent seat on the UN goes to Ukraine.
8. The UN Security Council must ratify any future changes to Russia’s borders.
9. Russia accepts any Ukrainians in Ukraine who wish to move to Russia.
10. Russia gives up nuclear weapons.
11. Russia must destroy all of its missiles and drones and factories that produce them.
12. Russia can spend no more than 0.5% of GDP on defence until 99% of its citizens have indoor plumbing.
13. All sanctions will be removed from Russia within 50 years of full implementation of the peace agreement.

Ukraine can show a willingness to compromise with a proposal like this. Maybe 90% of Russians get plumbing. Or Ukraine would accept expanding the permanent members to include Brazil and Kenya in addition to their own permanent seat to make sure all continents are represented. Or Russia gets to keep half its nukes and Ukraine gets the other half. Lots of room for compromise.
