      >Some allies of Corbyn believe Sultana was trying to mount a leadership bid for a party that has not yet been officially founded by signing people up.

Shouldn’t it be obvious when she announced herself as “co-leader” alongside Corbyn?

The trouble here is that Sultana expected Corbyn and his allies to just accept her as leader and fuel her personal ambitions with no expectations of their own. Her own political capital was mainly derived from being seen as Corbyn’s chosen heir. Now that it’s clear she isn’t, why would anyone back her?

It is hilarious how much effort is poured into something that will have so little impact on the world. Corbyn has wasted every opportunity he’s had.

    3. To think this man was the leader of the opposition during the most consequential years in the recent political history. We were never going to make it.

Its an impressive speed run we are at the bitter recrimination stage before they picked a name. To be fair to Corbyn he was quite happy with his mates in the independent group of MP’s before Sultana announced they were forming a new party which clearly came as a surprise to him. He has bless him tried to make a go of it but the political differences were never going to be reconciled.

      >However, they still believe there is appetite for a new left-wing party

Correct. Any chance it can be an entirely different group of people instigating it?

      No, not you, Diane

In other news, the green party is getting close to 80,000 members up from 60,00 in April. People are realising it’s the party of the left

I think this whole mess is just caused by Sultana jumping the gun on making announcements that really should be pre-checked by everyone before being made.

She I think is one of those people who take whatever’s being said in casual conversation too seriously considers it to be set in stone and goes ahead with making public announcements

Everything I’ve read suggests that Sultana is the issue.

She’s been quite the loose cannon, and thats why she was ‘frozen out’ as she kept taking unilateral decisions rather than waiting, like the collective of MPs all agreed to do.

This is all just deeply silly. How do you mess it up this badly?
