      These death tolls do not come out of nowhere. They are consolidated out of many educated estimates, and corroborated by accounting for population deficits and refugees.

      On the other hand, let’s look at some good news. Turkey experienced a consistent decline in Total Fertility Rate (TFR) from **2.19 TFR** in 2014 to **1.48 TFR** in 2024. (Source – https://data.tuik.gov.tr/Bulten/Index?p=Birth-Statistics-2024-54196). Turkish majority regions are even lower than the national average.

      So let’s celebrate that Turkey went from 1,351,088 births in 2014 to 940,000 in 2024. I am celebrating this. This has positive reverberations for the wider region.
