A four-wheel-drive vehicle with high ground clearance and a powerful engine — that’s what’s needed! Frame-built off-road vehicles, mid- or large-size crossovers, and various pickups meet these requirements. An SUV or crossover is an excellent option for transporting people (personnel) as well as some cargo. Plus, these vehicles provide fairly comfortable conditions inside the cabin and the ability to store cargo/weaponry and protect it from the weather. However, the best vehicle for combat operations is the pickup. Why?

The answer is simple — versatility. In the bed you can fit an enclosed shelter (a KUNG) or a tarp, you can add a superstructure to mount weapons, you can carry people, and of course you can transport any kind of cargo: barrels of fuel and lubricants, weapons and ammunition, a generator, etc. At the same time, an enclosed cabin allows for comfortable long-distance transport of people, and a pickup can easily cover hundreds of kilometres. A pickup is also mobile enough to go almost anywhere: leave combat positions, handle rural tracks and high-speed roads, and then drive into a rear-area town. It’s also capable enough to operate off-road on the frontline.
