L’Europa ha perso un alleato di superpotenza: può permettersi di essere nel mirino di due? | Per anni, l’UE ha seguito l’esempio degli Stati Uniti quando si trattava in Cina. Questa non è più un’opzione

it’s not in our best interest anyway. China and Europe has a lot of common goals.
Us lead?
Lead to where?
Dig a hole in a ground with 13 trillion and provoke the global massacre of Europe?
Sorry, but as long as China is helping Putin wage his war in Europe I don’t want to be their ally.
If they reverse their stance I would be open for more cooperation just to counter the increasingly negative American influence, but I don’t see this happening.
Yes it should be able to be in the crosshairs of both as the EU should be the third superpower
EU should work closer with China on the foreign policy in Africa. The US seems primarily focused on placing as many military bases around the world as possible, while China is actually building a lot of critical infrastructure.
China, Russia, and the USA are all despicable, violating human rights constantly. I wish people would wake up and reorganize the world in a more ethical way.
Between Russia, China, and the US, there is only one that has not threatened to annex the territory of an EU country. I think we would profit more by searching for a way to incite China to decouple from Russia than by trying to beg Trump, since it is pretty clear that the US thinks of us as more of an ideological enemy than they do of Russia.
In 1756, the Diplomatic Revolution saw the Franco-Prussian and Anglo-Austrian alliances be replaced by Franco-Austrian and Anglo-Prussian alliances. Aiming for the same may be our sole way to defend against the two imperialist regimes that see us as foes.
How do Europeans think they’ll keep the US in NATO if they’re aligning with China? Buy Russian oil from India, Chinese goods, and continue to string along Ukraine while it bleeds white? Doesn’t sound like allies anyone would want in any case.
Time for Europe to be the superpower that it is!
China is not a European ally.
Of course it’s the guardian.
Chinese exports are a threat to European economic interests too.
I would hope we can find a working relationship with China. We are in a military alliance with the US but that doesn’t mean we have to be the front-line troops for their hegemony.
Europe doesn’t need any “Superpower Friend”.
Never trust china ever. No matter how bleak everything else is. Never trust china, russia and Muslim countries as they are ruled by emotion (religion)
China is not, never was and never will be EUs ally.
We’re kidding ourselves if we think China is anything approaching an ally
China exports are nuking the European economy while european exports to China are tanking at the same time, they support Russia and threaten Taiwan and people here are talking about allying with them lmao. If countries like France don’t want trade deals with Mercosur then the only option that remains is to strengthen the internal demand within the bloc.
Unfortunately, the conditions for a next world war are all there: economic difficulties in all countries, nationalism in almost all states, uncontrolled outbreaks in the world, tensions between states, an arms race, passing the buck on blame.
Lol, no. But what are we supposed to do this late in the game.
Lernt absolutely nothing award.
China is a full blown totalitarian dictatorship with some pretty dystopian practices like organ harvesting, but the biggest problem for Europe is that China sees trade, in the long term, as a zero-sum game.
The EU has an export-oriented economy. With automotive sector being one of the most important categories. Can’t align with China without opening up your market to Chinese cars. Can’t keep VW or Renault profitable for long if you do.
And the same goes for pretty much everything else.
Putin must just be dream scrolling the news every morning and laughing himself silly.
Hard to believe the West would just implode so quickly (Trump, Orban, Brexit/Farage).
China is not your friend. Pretending we can have a business like relationship is how we ended up with the current Russia, and China is far worse on trade when you look at the systems in place. Europe needs to be able to stand alone.
