Amazing news, hopefully it leads to further breakthroughs

I love reading things like this, especially with all the dreadful things happening in the world. Brilliant.

This country still has world-leading drug research and treatment innovation.
Hopefully this isn’t a one off, that it is replicable and pushed forward.
It’s refreshing seeing such a good news story poke out amid negative news cycles.

“An emotional research team became tearful as they described how data shows the disease was slowed by 75% in patients.
It means the decline you would normally expect in one year would take four years after treatment, giving patients decades of “good quality life”, Prof Sarah Tabrizi told BBC News.
However, the drug will not be available for everyone due to the highly complex surgery and the anticipated cost.”
Amazing news, and a great scientific achievement. It’s a shame many won’t be able to benefit from this treatment, though.

Now that’s the kinda thing to feel patriotic about.

How amazing. I know a guy who has it and is currently going through IVF with his wife to ensure the gene does not pass on.
His brother, on the other hand, refused to get himself tested and then decided to have kids naturally (his wife was fine with that). They rather not know for himself nor for their children.
To each their own but it’s not labelled one of the cruellest diseases for no reason.

Fantastic news! My friend’s dad had Huntington’s and it was so awful. She said the mental decline was worse than the physical side. Luckily she doesn’t have it.
