The church has degraded itself by years of corrupt business dealings, and it has become a tool in the hands of the Kremlin and the ex-regime, and actually the society has grown enough to not take them seriously.

You can’t use the cause and the locomotive of something bad to excuse the bad result. It’s like if I decide to get extremely drunk and get behind the wheel and start driving like a maniac, then blame society for letting me do that. That’s not how it works.
