Wonder if he’s weighing up a leadership bid in the future?

I guess you may as well get the in-fighting and factionalism started now in the hope it’s all cleared up by the time of the next election.

Burnham seems to have been very quiet since he tried to force a ULEZ zone in Manchester only to have the people slap him back into his box.

I wouldn’t call Starmer divisive. He has managed the remarkable achievement of uniting the left and the right in their disdain of him.

Burnham’s policy platform seems limited to high tax and spend. He seems to love talking about nationalisation and higher benefits, but doesn’t seem to have any answers on how government would pay for that. There’s not much more scope for further tax rises providing significant revenue while not killing growth
Also he hasn’t said a word about immigration, the main issue Labour will continue to be attacked on alongside the economy till either situation improves

I’m not against it but the thing is that once you.. bring
>housing, energy and water companies back into public control,
You have to directly pay for it. And it’s harder to say no to union demands plus all the pressure groups asking for it to be free – the investment is very expensive so borrowing or tax. Though you can hope to have assets that are worth something.
It’s just easier to say than to pay for.

I think he knows that inorder to be allowed to stand by the NEC, he needs to already be a big vocal threat to Starmer. If enough Labour MPs signal that they will rebel if Burnham is blocked, it would give Starmer pause for thought. If Powell wins the deputy leadership, her and Miliband could coordinate pressure on Starmer from within cabinate. Whilst this would also be more of a reason for Starmer to block him, if the pressure becomes to great Starmer would have to give else risk open revolt.

Could all go wrong, very easily, if he’s expelled from the Labour Party.

The only way I am voting Labour next time is if he is leading.
