I’m thinking now we should even tighten those laws further.

Lets hope so, they cant even follow the laws here.

I think if Apple stops shipping to EU, it would be best thing that EU could hope for. Apple‘s fan fare in Europe is the reason why local options don’t develop. If Apple doesn’t exist because it wants to have monopoly, new solutions would emerge

The title is going a bit too far with consequences, though

      >the company could stop shipping some products and services to the 27-country bloc.

Apple giving up to a 450 million people source of money? Not really.

      >“The DMA means the list of delayed features in the EU will probably get longer, and our EU users’ experience on Apple products will fall further behind,” it said. Apple added that Brussels was creating unfair competition as the rules were not applied to Samsung, the largest smartphone provider in the EU.

      >Among the requirements of the DMA is that Apple ensures that headphones made by other brands will work with iPhones. It said this has been a block on it releasing its live translation service in the EU as it allows rival companies to access data from conversations, creating a privacy problem.

Does Samsung implement the same level of blocks?

Nothing lost from my point of view, since i haven’t bought any apple products ever, except actual apples not sold by Apple Inc.

Yeah, sure thing “they won’t ship to eu”, tell that to investors and see how your stock plummets 😒

*It said it had already delayed the launch of features such as live translation through AirPods and mirroring iPhone screens on to laptop because of the act’s demands for interoperability with non-Apple products and services*

Live translation through earbuds is already available on other platforms.

Mirroring mobile screen to laptops is already available on other platforms.

Late to the party again, apple?

*disrupting the seamless way Apple products work together.*

Disrupting the way Apple handcuffs you into their product range, you mean?

They are welcome to stop selling in the EU if they are not happy with EU laws

    12. EchoOfSingularity on

Alright then. Turn off the light when you leave please.

Serious the cheeks to think that now they can dictate what’s in laws.

    13. yeah giving up on roughly 30-50% of your annual revenue… not gonna happen

Narrator voice: Apple did, in fact, never stop shipping into the largest economic block of the universe.

    15. momentimori on

      I doubt it.

Europe buys ~20% of global iphone sales and makes a significant chunk of app purchases too.

    16. BlueSky86010 on

Gosh, I could NOT care less. It’s about time the mega corporations get taken down a peg or two and serious competition elsewhere starts to take their business. Hopefully all made in the EU. Let’s make Nokia great again!

If they stopped shipping to the EU, their 2nd major market, Apple shareholders would crucify tim cock in the middle of the apple campus.

But their claim now that they will stop shipping features in the EU because they don’t agree with the DMA. Even though Google, Samsung and Microsoft found ways to comply with legistlation. Fuck apple.
