By Brendan Cole and Shane Croucher:

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he does not seek to lead his country during peacetime once Russia’s war is over.

“My goal is to finish the war,” Zelensky told Axios in a new interview, saying Ukraine would hold presidential elections when the Russian invasion ends. Only part of Zelensky’s interview was published. The rest is due for release on Friday, Axios said.

    2. Completely understandable. I can’t even try to comprehend how incredible taxing this must be in him.

I remember reading an article where he said once the war is over and he no longer in charge all he’s wants to do is sleep on a beach for several weeks.

    4. Problem with this is that corruption could easily bring a Russian puppet as a new president and finish whatever they started but it’s inevitable I think

I don’t blame him, the man must be beyond exhaustion by this point

Can‘t imagine what the whole global situation would have looked like without him. He really was the right man for the job.

No shit… bet he cant wait to be done with this bs….
He should get the nobel peace price lol
      ..

    8. At best he can hope is Sakaashvili situation, as sad as it sounds, hopefully he can get out of Ukraine after election

    9. I think both Trump and Putin dislike Zelensky (the first just doesn’t like him, the second outright hates him and feels insecure because of him). They really want elections in Ukraine that bring in someone more “willing to compromise.” They might even push the idea of a “freeze and elections.” But honestly, if Zaluzhny were to replace Zelensky, nothing would really change for them

No offense, but he looks like 10 years older since the full invasion in 2022. So I’d be more surprised if he didn’t end the presidency when the war was over.

Can’t even imagine how stressful it must be every day when you make decisions that decide over millions of lives and an entire country on a daily basis. And when you make a mistake, thousands could die. And unlike his enemies, he actually cares about his people which actually makes it a lot more difficult and stressful.

Fucking well deserved. I deeply hope to meet him in bar some time and buy him a drink.

Dude was a pretty famous celebrity and comedian- he didn’t need this job. I’m sure he will be grateful when this is all over.

That’s literally what’s constitutionally supposed to happen in Ukraine

    14. Never signs a peace treaty, presidency forever.

People have short term memory issues, he’s stated this from the beginning. He’ll have an election when the constitution says he can.
