      Not huge but enough to cover Cyprus energy needs for a long time (think in terms of centuries at current rates of use)

      for cyprus it’s very significant. We can use some of it, but that isn’t the best idea imo. There’s enough there to power Cyprus for decades which defeats the objective to convert to renewable energy sources. It make much more sense to keep a little, and sell the rest and invest in creating the infrastructure to provide cheap renewable energy for everyone, or invest the profits in a sovereign wealth fund like Norway does, or fund educational reforms, or supplement the pension fund and gesy…

      Most likely however, a lot of big wigs will dip their fingers in the pie, as is customary, and then screw it all up somehow.

      Cyprus needs a cheap source of energy for domestic needs – your electricity and water are very expensive. Gas can be used both at home and in desalination plants.
