Ciao a tutti,

What percent of your yearly income did your car cost?

0.25% of the list price per month plus a few euros for the commute to work.

Alright, just for the fun of it. When I bought my car back in 2019 (bought used, inexpensive commonly seen small city car for everyday use) its full price was about 20% of my annual net income at the time. I used my savings to buy it.

I have a €500 bicycle and a Deutschlandkarte, so I guess the combined costs make up something like 1% over the course of a full year.

If I ever needed a car, I’d buy a shit box. An expensive car isn’t going to take me to work any faster or less stressful than a cheaper one.

Bought in cash, 27%. But used proceeds from my previous car.

For me, living in Germany provides the freedom of not having a car. I live in a city busy with everything I need that is max 3 metro stops away. So 0%
