In the village of Baniun in the Lviv region, a local farmer has set up a pumpkin shop without a salesperson. It is operating for seven years. Customers choose pumpkins themselves, weigh them, and leave money in a special box.

Ostap Kostiuk has been growing pumpkins for over 15 years, and since 2018 he has established a “trust shop” near the highway.

“At first, we just placed a box for money because there was no one to sell, and day by day this gradually turned into a ‘trust shop.’ My father and I got this idea from abroad, where we once lived. In Europe, it’s common practice: customers put money in a box themselves. At first, people were surprised that we could trust them this way, but over time they got used to it and now mostly praise it. Though sometimes something gets stolen – of course, that’s unfortunate,” said Ostap Kostiuk.
