Chinese technology giant Xiaomi has officially planted its flag on European soil, opening its first EV research and design center outside of China.
The new facility is located in the German automotive stronghold of Munich, and is a big step in the company’s plan to bring its popular electric cars to the European market.

The german automotive industry is extremely important for the german industry, this is bad for germany and europe in the long run, but redditors only care about cheap cars and don’t understand international power and leverage and long term consequences

I assume they opened it because they want to hire lots of German talent. Right?

You know what, fuck it at this point.
if the Chinese are gonna make best shit, I’ll buy it.
I’m ferociously pro-European, I want to see this region dominate, but the people at the top are so fucking useless and complacent I’m starting to find myself just… numbing to all this.
My previous phone was a Xiaomi, and it was one of the best pieces of tech I’ve ever owned.
I’m currently wearing Edifier headphones and I think they’d be hard to beat for the price – just wish they maybe lasted a bit longer, they’re kinda beat up now.

Personally I consider German quality the best, if we are talking about premium quality interiors & strong and performant engines.
I really don’t care if a car has a 7’ inch or 30’ inch display and self driving, self cooking and a lot of bullshit, here in Eastern Europe at least you don’t really trust the car so much to let it drive alone.
This is just a matter of price/quality and running maintenance. The German cars are not expensive to maintain since you find the parts almost everywhere.
I think people are looking a lot on fuel consumption for example if an average car has 7l/100 km and the fuel is 1.5-2 Euros per litre is kind of doable, if you car consumes a 15l/100km because has a lot of horsepower, and an equivalent electric Chinese or American car translates into 5l/100km, then that thing is attractive.
Since we as European cannot really control fuel prices because we are a Net Importer, we can only buy average cars or try to produce our own Electric or maybe in future Hydrogen vehicles.
But overall German and European engineering is very good and even if it’s not top notch, myself and a lot of people I know don’t really care about this shit, we drive cars not smartphones.
As an Economic perspective, I would ban all Chinese cars from our market, and Encourage only European-made cars, if you want budget go get Dacia or Renault, if you want Premium go get BMW/Merc/Porsche, they are all amazing cars.
We also have to keep in mind that even that Chinese cars are chip, dealership and parts are more scarce and maybe the car you get today you will have to order components from “motherland” China in a few years.
