    1. But we have invested in nothing and are out of ideas!!! Won’t the private sector save us!!

    2. No let’s rely on Russian oil longer on our failing energy grid… typical Ireland has to be told to cop on

I’ve an idea, let’s raise the passenger cap at Dublin airport so it can be used as a transit hub for transatlantic flights.

Also we could build a gas powered power station in a residential area for some data centres.

    4. We’re a tiny island, with some concerted government investment in electricity storage and generation, we could be mostly oil and gas free. Replaced by wind solar and hydrogen. The up front cost would be high but it would then take us away from the fluctuations of the oil and gas markets. Back up that internal market with the French interconnector to import some nuclear generated power and we’d be in a hell of a lot better place.

Ragebait headline, this article is re-wrote every 6 months, I believe we’re up to the third incarnation of this essentially same format.

I get where they’re coming from its journalist(s) that want to see action on energy but its always wrote as if europe is breathing down our necks that we need to do something yesterday when that isnt the case at all.

Action should be taken on our own accord and not implied that its because of Ursula VDL, the renewable transition will happen but with the war in ukraine and trump no negative consequences will come(from the EU) for at least another 5/10 years while europe secures its short term energy production(a positive note is there is a lot of movement on nuclear and wind/solar continue to add every year)

So like I wrote last time anyone triggered/misled by this article can relax now.

We would need to elect a government who don’t take backhanders first.
