Theres a few years to go yet, wish these ‘polls’ would give it a rest till we’re closer.

If Starmer focused on the real domestic issues rather than telling everyone we got no money for new Hospitals (42x cancelled) then increases taxes and then even wants to blow BILLIONs on unnecessary Digital IDs and use the excuse of Illegal Immigration despite this £40 BILLION black hole we keep being told about, it’s no wonder Reform keep growing. Labour need to get fucking serious on domestic issues

    3. CubeOfDestiny on

it’s crazy how a party can get such an overwhelming majority with like a third of the popular vote, truly a perfect electoral system

    4. badautomaticusername on

What’s pathetic is, there’s a little part of me excited that with a bit more, the LibDems could be official opposition.

Which is utterly rediculous given its only due to the collapse of the Tories & Labour to Reform.

Also, I note Reform UK supports some kind of proportional representation- this massive shift is part due to our FPTP electoral system… so would Reform _actually_ try (voting system) Reform?

    5. atnight_owl on

Britons once grew weary of Farage and UKIP, pushing the party into near oblivion. Yet now, some years later, they’re lining up behind him again through ~~UKIP 2~~ Reform UK. Did they forget why UKIP collapsed?

Same story everywhere in Europe. When the other parties don’t engage in what people talk about at the local pub, you will see these parties grow and grow.

“CaLl A gEnErAl ElEcTiOn NoW!!”… theres still four years to go… (Also while im here, what is the allure of right wing populism?)

People have become tired of their main concerns not being addressed. And whether people like it or not the immigration influx is one of those main concerns.
If illegal immigration was addressed moderately it could have been dealt with moderately. Instead they decided to characterise people who care about this issue as extremists and far-right, and so the extremists and the far-right have monopolised the discussion and responsibility on the subject, and they in the end they will get to deal with it in their own way. They will apply their own propaganda and extreme policies on the issue and use it ti spread fear and chaos as is being done in the US.

Landslide, this won’t happen. Reform can barely find people to fill local government let alone suitable candidates for national government

A nice way to remind Northern Ireland that it doesn’t count when it comes to “UK” elections. We’re not even an afterthought when decisions are made.

    11. _MrBeef_ on

Boris Johnson will be unveiled as Reform’s new leader just before the next election.

      You heard it here first.

This is the inherent problem with politics: short-termism is baked into both manifestos / policies, as well as the mindset of the electorate.

      Things must get better IMMEDIATELY!

Long-term, systems change is so often abandoned for short-term, sexy policies just so that there is something immediately tangible for voters to refer to.

Not that I’m saying the current Labour government haven’t been disappointing. It’s just – I’ll reserve my judgment.

Anyone receiving money from Russia to promote political views needs to be charged.

GB News needs to be investigated for receiving Russian money and being set up around he time when RT news was banned.

Social media companies that don’t stop propaganda bots and farms need to be taxed heavily to pay for the harm being done

I’m not politician or lawyer but it’s ridiculous that we’re allowing a country that wants us and the rest of Europe ruined to influence us.

It feels like we’re being failed if Russia and MAGA can have such influence over us.

    14. TheMysteriousOrganis on

Like Brexit, I hope whoever votes reform, doesn’t suddenly get amnesia!

After being russian spies? Something is disgustingly wrong with people

    16. let_me_flie on

Good thing there’s no general election anytime soon and polls are notoriously unreliable 👍

    17. Goal-Final on

This is fucked up. Stop russian/trumpist propaganda which spreads like poison in European societies.

    18. MilosEggs on

Is it just me or does the constant pushing of Reform as potential winners of the next Election look a bit forced?

It feels like the media are trying to will it into existence.

    19. Conscious_Clan_1745 on

Polls will change. Reform are riding a false wave at the moment. Agitation from foreign actors is at an all time high.
Labour have 3 years to improve things and they will. The big issue fueling Reform, immigration, is being tackled successfully, in 3 years it should be a non-issue, hence there desperation for some sort of election now before the wind is taken out of their sails.

    20. LOL can’t wait for PM Farage to step in! It’s gonna be so much fun watching the car crash.

And maybe finally people will stop saying “let’s give the UK another chance in the EU”, since apparently brexit wasn’t enough of a clue that the UK doesn’t belong in the EU.

    21. voltage-cottage on

Everybody acting surprised in the comments, yet people forgot that Stramer literally enforced a law where you have to register your id any time you want to do aomething online in the UK

Seriously people, is noone there on the streets, and don’t tell.me that you are just fine with letting it go on

    22. mystermee on

Reform have hopefully peaked too soon. The next UK election should be after Trump is gone from the White House so hopefully there’s an appetite for moving on from that style of politics.

    23. Great…. Let’s elect the pro-Russian, anti-working class party. Brilliant idea. Will not totally fuck everything even further

    24. Kalagorinor on

Vote for the same people who (indirectly) brought about Brexit.. What could go wrong?

    25. ProductGuy48 on

A vote for Reform is a vote for Putin. Farage will stop all aid to Ukraine immediately, and do everything necessary to wedge the UK farther away from NATO

    26. Accomplished-Try-658 on

Speaking as someone who lives in London – I find this unlikely.

    27. mad_marble_madness on

Seems the UK voters learned a lot from the shit-show that was/is Brexit, and from the propaganda that lead up to it — NOT!

How can anyone vote for Farage AFTER all the shit he pulled (and is still pulling) is beyond me.

Falling for populist’s seemingly easy and falsely-simple messaging is one thing, but doing so from this guy and his party is just plain crazy.

Feelings over logic. Want-beliefs and dreams over reality.

    28. RijnKantje on

This is not just the UK btw. The UK has a FPTP voting system allowing parties to dominate.

But in the Netherlands the equivalent party won. Trump dominates the entire politics in the US. About to happen in France with le Pen. Afd in Germany is rising. Italy has a right wing government.

It seems all normal Western political parties are absolutely willing to die on the hill of mass migration as a fundamental human right, no matter the consequences for the poorest in our nations. Crazy.
