They don’t even know what the heck they want. Howard Nutlick can talk all day long without saying much.

Their goal is probably maximum confusion in order for corporations to start producing in the US so that they are safe no matter how much they fuck around.

    2. They wanna make sure in case a war breaks out (kinetic or economic), switzerland is on their side and wont turn against them

Nah bro, i like our financial policy way more than the US-american policing of the world like they are the best but still fight homelessness and are much alike a third world country.

      Translation:
Swiss leaders are so incredibly weak and docile that it would be stupid to not squeeze them for more.

I visit r/Conservative for my own information. My understanding, seeing how they openly boast their “negotiating tactics”, they know they have more power and want to exercise it since “America First”. They are happy to extort as much money as they can. It’s not an “us” problem, our politicans can’t do much even if they really wanted to, americans know what they’re doing and they are happy to do it.

With all due respect to your station, Mr. Lutnick, I sincerely suggest you acquire a rusty spork post-haste and use it to thoroughly explore the depths of your anal cavity.

      Decidedly unkind regards,
      A concerned Swiss citizen.

    7. i think that Switzerland’s strategy right now, is that we can outlive them. It does make some sense, since I think that negotiating with Trump is like negotiating with a 12year old, however no one knows how much this will cost.

But I dont have all the facts and I have no idea what’s discussed in all those meetings.

I am pretty sure that if you give USA 10 they will ask for 13 and if you give them 13 they will ask for 16 etc.

Let’s tax gold and pharma *exports* to the US with a **reciprocal** 39%.

Our weak Bundesrat might not be aware of it, but the US is very much depending on CH in these two sectors.

Considering we 0% customs tariffs in Switzerland I dont know how much more open we can be.. want us to give you a handjob everytime you import??

This lunatic Howard wants India to buy Corn 🌽 & it’s barely eaten there.

It’s like trying to sell Pork to Saudi Arabia!

Why should we listen to this guy? Talking like he owns the world.

The fact is that Switzerland already complied with Trump’s demands on the EU and then some, including commitments to invest hugely in the US, and still get smacked by 39% tariffs (so far…). We don’t have anything more to give, so we might as well give the middle finger instead. Our government however is busy trying to crawl up Trump’s arsehole. I wouldn’t be surprised if they offer direct cash payments to the US Treasury in order to temporarily lower tariffs.

Dane living and working in Switzerland; your “closed markets” (to paraphrase Lutnick) are amazing and one of the things I love about your country.

The fact you don’t let shitty, cheap products flow in and actually protect local production means so much for the quality of your food, nature, environment, self-reliance, and so on.

I am aware it costs a bit more – but honestly the irony by now is that, today, most of the EU have supermarket prices more or less on par with Swiss prices for most (not all) products. And that’s _with_ all the trade compromises.

Stand strong in what you’ve built and don’t let anyone gaslight you into thinking you have to compromise on your core values.

      One guys opinion here obviously.

Speaking as an American, fuck this bastard and this whole kleptocratic fascist regime. What he/Trump wants, is first and foremost; bribes. But superficially and politically, what they want is free access to sell US products to other nations with out tax/tariffs, yet will tax and tariff foreign goods sold in the US. As well, if you do business directly with Trump, ala bribes, he will give your business special conditions, like he did with NVIDIA and Apple. Not only did they and other tech oligarchs pay 1m bribes during Trump’s inauguration, they continue to pay the Trump mafia for special privileges.

      The Europeans or the Americans?

I think even the mafia would know better than to pick multiple fights at the same time. Fights with their supposed allies. While they are gearing up to take on their main competitor, China.

The problem here is that the US is trying to treat treating their allies like vassals. (it is something Putin would do, because it is how he sees the world.) But it is overwhelmingly a US problem, because for other nations it will means some transitory pain, whereas for the US, this threatens the end of their place in the world.

We should be fine making business further more with both Brazil and India, isn’t it? This person actually provides the solution to the problem he creates. We will come back to her /his successor, in a few years, or never.
