      Telegram is shit by default from requiring a phone number.

      Add to that the fact that private chats are unencrypted until you opt into the “secret chat” feature for each private chat and you get your answer as to why Durov was allowed to get the influence he did in Russia before he ran off to France.

      If not for these brave journalists we would never know about this, because obviously Durov and his team are not doing anything about this.

      And then Durov just casually insinuates that Moldova is breaking “freedom of speech”? On the day we have our key election with extremely high stakes.

      He is clearly siding with Russia here.
