First sensible thing she’s done. Mone should be the first.

I remember that one business owner who bought himself an actual Lamborghini with COVID cash injections meant for the business. Not very nice, but hella based

    3. Hopefully there are genuine punishments for those who committed the fraud.

Sounds like they’re going to be lynched. Are we in late stage capitalism already?

You know Rachel this should’ve been one of Labours 1st priorities the moment you got into office!!

Bunch of restaurants with same owners in Leeds got £3.1m in Covid payouts with false financial information and now they got found out and have to pay them back, they got a patsy CEO to backdate and sign that he was the sole director at the time and they paid him £10,000 and hes fucked off to Greece and they paid the fine for not updating their info on Companies house, they closed down the LTD company and moved all the assets into a new LTD company after selling it to themselves.

I know of dozens of self employed guys in my industry that took the small business bailout and just built extensions or refurbished thier homes as “offices” and they got like 50k each

      Good luck.

A huge amount of the evidence (defective / unusable PPE) has been incinerated to save storage costs (or if you’re more cynical like me, to destroy the evidence).

As far as I know they did document the destruction, but didn’t manually assess all batches for usability / fitness for purpose (because again- that costs money), so those who profited are very likely to get away with it.

One is on Strictly right now.

It is amazing how the Tories have not been held to account over this. Not only did they allow the fraud to occur so easily but they then did not even try to recover the money. Yet people still claimed they were the party of fiscal responsibility right up until Sunak called the election.

    10. She’s actually targeting system abusers rather than contributors? More of this, and Labour won’t be in such a shambles

May I direct your gaze to the Tory party HQ? None of this small fry shite, get in there at the deep end where they were shoveling cash away with excavators

Will it also target the government contracts that they give to their mates ?

I definitely heard from lots of peers at small companies where they were technically ‘furloughed’ while still working full time!
