Damn. Well, time will tell. I wish the guy the best going forward. Hopefully find a job (money indirectly cures more problems than any NHS therapy), have some opportunities to do typical stuff and fit in with people who had more typical pasts. Use the positive side of his potential, as I think everyone wants to.
The “loads of people have had bad things happen to them” is always silly. I mean say a rape victim, a racism victim, a cancer patient and a financial abuse victim, someone with a dead parent – these all had bad things happen to them, but they’re different things. A rape victim from family will probably have different beliefs and responses than one from a stranger, or there’s the different justications that were given or implied during events. The person physically abused for talking back is going to think differently than one abused for standing with bad posture. “Bad things” are a lot more granular than just being easy to put into categories.

People who torture/kill animals often graduate to doing the same to humans.
He’s 18, not 8, he belongs in prison.
It’s absolutely crazy this ‘person’ has been released. He WILL kill someone, that is almost guaranteed. But only when he does will he be put behind bars.
I guess someone has to lose their life before society is protected from this person. What a sad world we live in.

This is a big story in my town at the moment, pretty much everyone is angry at the decision.
Surprised I hadn’t seen this posted here already. I’m glad to see this story get some national attention and plastering his name everywhere
