Not just, all of our infrastructure is completely unsuitable for further population increases. Driving anywhere, parking, hospitals, doctors surgeries.
Yeah, it turns out that importing millions of people a year whilst maintaining strict planning laws caused house and rental prices to skyrocket.
It’s not worth paying 2/3 of your post tax income on rent just so we can feel smug about how tolerant and diverse the nation is.

There needs to be much stricter rules regarding social housing and other types of benefits gifted to immigrants. France does much better in this domain, with non-EU migrants having to wait at least 5 years before accessing most public benefits, including housing or income support.
To put it bluntly, I think most people would feel it’s fair if they’re placed at the back of the queue.
Racial tensions are fuelled by all the broken issues in the UK.
Low wages, high inflation, underemployment, underfunded healthcare, underfunded police service…
They feed into the narrative of those who benefit from the attention being distracted from the very real issues facing this Country

Well duh. There was no racial tension in the UK before 1960 when the UK was 98% white British. If you end mass migration then racial tension will be reduced.
Multiculturalism thrives during economic growth (see London), but unfortunately people fall back into tribalism once resources become scarce. The future is going to be very conflictual if the economy doesn’t improve.
Racial tensions are rising because the number of foreign born British is skyrocketing and the Anglo majority are at the beggining of the end as a majority.

Yes but also the loss of community due to mass immigration and multiculturalism.
Technically, I do not agree with the term “housing shortage”. There are still many houses left abandon in undesirable but still commutable areas. The shortage is about not having enough resources for people who want it. And the new generation/new comers do not create enough economic value to upkeep the social safety net. Social fund has been stretched for years and many rely on donations from general public. When economy is not doing well or slowing down, public donations decreases, government funding cuts, while at the same time more people in the country qualify for help. It’s a downward spiral.
I think we have to be honest what’s behind racial tension was actually economic class tension. Immigrants from humanity causes generally create not a lot economic values, except for a few who come from richer/comparable economies who bring their monies with them. The ONS statistics had also reported that certain demographics do not earn as much as some do, and some rely more on social help than others.
I would boldly say it is not really a housing shortage problem but an economic problems tinted with uncontrolled migration. Rather than thinking the problem as “there is only 1 house, we need to build more”, how about thinking “there are too many poor families who need help”? That’s easily said, unfortunately I don’t know how to solve the problem either.
It’s nice when ministers state the astoundingly obvious.

Also, if they actually sent every foreigner home tomorrow does anyone really believe that the government, ANY government will suddenly gift housing to those who need it??!

When you can’t get a mortgage, your rents are going up, you can’t afford to have kids, can’t get a doctor or dentist, seeing loads of men turn up daily from war torn france may well cause a little bit of tension

Cuts housing availability, ramps up house prices, removes funding for social home, hikes rents….complains its causing issues.

Housing shortage fuelled by lack of social housing, lack of long term rentals due to air bnb and the rich/ corporate landlords cashing in, second homes sitting empty, foreign oligarchs buying up property in prime locations and leaving it empty and buildings in city centres allowed to remain derelict for decades. But let’s all blame the immigrants.

During lockdown there was a lot of movement from the cities to the coast – which caused rents to go up as these city-dwellers were keeping their better paid jobs in the city whilst living on the coast.
Rents have stayed up – however wages on the coast have stayed static.
Of course – making the political choice of not building any social housing on a vast scale for the last 40 years was also not the best decision. That’s something that society as a whole needs to take responsibility for.
And the housing crisis can be traced back to Thatcher and the right to buy scheme and her refusal to allow councils to use the money from the sold off social houses to build new ones!!!
They will blame literally everything but the obvious.
It isn’t just that. It’s the breakdown of the social contract in general. If people could afford to raise a family, own a car, home, holiday abroad, access services etc comfortably then there wouldn’t be any issues.
These issues are being nefariously directed and manipulated by the billionaire class so people direct attention at other poor people, but the underlying problem is the country is fucked and people have no hope.

Derrr. BBC articles about how it’s normal to live with your parents until 40 years old.. This has been a problem for decades. Like uncontrolled (especially illegal) migration.
Other than promising 100k houses a year and barely achieving a fraction of that (and similar string words / weak or non existent action, eg smashing gangs lol gimme a break) what are our leaders doing?
Seems like an orchestrated way to undo the decades of largely peaceful coexistence and integration, by dividing and ruling and creating social tension..
Why work when you can be given.. And that’s not just “migrants”, that’s the scummy non working benefits “class” as well. Drains on society that I think we’re all tired of funding with our taxes. Maybe the political elite can properly tax their corporate buddies to fund their illegal / low cost workforce, and their customer base of cigarette / vape users and entertainment (eg sky, Netflix) subscribers

Since the right to buy scheme was introduced, we’ve sold off 2 million council homes! Imagine how things would be right now if we put 2 million homes into the social sector…
its so brexit. that its the small number of people who caused all the issues, not the massive number of people. with brexit, the population change was something like just 3% but that was apparantly enough to be claimed as the root cause of literally every issue known to man.
we need to invest in this country, if you dont do that, no one gets anything decent. blaming immigrants for austerity is only going to make sure literally nothing changes.

People struggle to pay their bills under crushing taxes and cost of living and see foreign men crossing the border illegally and being given handouts at taxpayer expense. It absolutely breeds resentment and I feel like it’s by design to keep us divided.
Why do we need that much immigration? Controlled or illegal. Why is the country not being more efficient with resources and adapting? Why aren’t we utilising AI? Why can’t we get our own citizens to do the jobs we need immigrants to do? (I understand that there still wouldn’t be enough people but with youth unemployment high yet we still recruit people from overseas to do care jobs etc).
I’m just rambling but it doesn’t seem sustainable.
Lets sell off huge chunks of the UK to foreign and domestic corporate investors who will force everyone in to poverty with high rental rates. Literally writing a blank check from the taxpayers to pay for social welfare housing that is privately owned.
Why are we fed this propaganda that it’s everyone else’s fault except for the people making vast amounts of wealth off this.
