Jaysus book all the rooms and sure we’ll see if anyone wants them is a mental planning decision.

I love the fact that they mention there is no logistic planning policy for “extraordinary events”, the final was in May 2024, they were given a minimum of 9 months to prepare for a one off night, I’d hardly call that extraordinary event. Is every large gig and international sporting event a extraordinary event?

The Gardaí prepared for the worst and get a very calm night. They didn’t need to keep lots of Gardaí in Dublin and could let them go home. This expense should be measured against the alternative cost of paying Garda overnight sub and overtime and travel rates the next day.

Ah sure it’s only taxpayers money !! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

    4. 1000 or so hotel rooms booked out for a big event…. by gardai? What the fuck? No wonder you cant find a reasonable room for a match/concert any more

Was this sort of planning used when England played Ireland in Landsdowne Road in 1995?

When it got late into the tournament, there was a possibility of the likes of either Newcastle, Liverpool, West Ham and Rangers as potential finalists.

Newcastle had never been to a final before, so would have brought a massive unticketed crowd. Same with Liverpool, West Ham and Rangers.

Croke Park was booked out for a potential screening of the game.

We got away with how the tournament panned out because any of the 4 mentioned would have been a shitshow.
