That’s a sad story, the BBC article on this case seems to suggest she might have also been strangled at some point, though the case of death is recorded as malnutrition:

Not a UK police car. RIP. Humans were never exposed to so much news of death until the age of the TV, and now the internet. A death or even much lesser suffering of others used to be a bigger deal, on an emotional level. I wonder what really happened, in terms of intent, actions and the toddler’s experience. They never registered the birth, in 3 years. Was the starving punitive? Was there earlier, deliberate maltreatment? Were they unfit to look after a child due to being too reclusive? Did the gender of the child play any role? Were the parents adult immigrants from India, or were they British?
