Probably wasn’t the best decision to go ahead if they knew about the attack before starting.

    2. The implication being made in the headline – that protesting the Israeli state is anti-semitic – is itself anti-semitic.

When i first saw this my initial reaction was that it was pretty horrid of them not to cancel.

But if you think about it a little bit more…..

Why should we stop our right to protest against a genocide just because of a terrorist attack. Protesting against the genocide being committed by the government of Israel is not the same as protesting against the Jewish faith, indeed their are lots of Jews who join such demonstrations. The Daily Mail headline trying to conflate the two deserves to be called out

Why should we have our right to protest be disrupted because of a terrorist attack, i understand it in terms of stretching police resources obviously but it went ahead, clearly the police where able to cope. It was a pre-planned event, coordinated with other events around the country, lots of planning involved in that and the article doesn’t mention the time but i would imagine it would be difficult to cancel an event like that with just a few hours before it kicks off.

      Anyway….

Do we really want to live in a country where we don’t exercise our rights because of terrorists?

The march was a two hour walk away from the synagogue and was pre-organised. The march is also partially in protest of our government’s total silence and inaction about British citizens being illegally kidnapped by a foreign state.

I must say it really doesn’t sit well with me this idea people keep pushing that being against genocide is somehow an anti-Jewish stance. Antisemitism is real and is abhorrent, but criticising the actions of Israel is not that, and implying Jewish people = Israel (or vice versa) is offensive.

Some of the most disingenuous framing I ever saw in my life. “Just miles” could be anything. RIP to those killed in the attack, free Palestine.

What a shocking headline and so inflammatory.

I have seen NOBODY supporting the attack at the synagogue. It is clearly terrorism and hope they find everyone responsible.

However democracy doesn’t end until they do. “Just miles” could be anywhere, and reading down it’s 3 miles away in central Manchester.

There is also not a Venn diagram of people here. Most people don’t support attacking religious buildings on their holy day AND don’t support a genocide. You can be against both.

To think even the mail are trying to use this as a wedge issue to inflame tensions is disgusting.

The police have had a bloody busy day in Manchester. Regardless of how unrelated you may believe these events to be, it should be postponed so the cops have one less thing to deal with this evening.

      Protest next week.

    8. Just miles… some cities that’s the difference between the city centre to the boundary of the Greenbelt lol

Good old Daily Mail, sticking steadfastly to the rule that if you want to post some made-up bullshit in your headline, just use a passive sentence.

      Personally don’t see the issue.

It’s their right to protest what they believe is a genocide.
