As the system is designed and intended to operate. What a scummy headline, trying to pin the lack of housing issue on a single person instead of decades of mismanagement. It doesn’t matter if 1 person appeals it or 1,000, what matters is the content of the appeal……why are they appealing, what is the issue they want to be addressed etc. Just because there’s only one of them, that doesn’t mean their appeal is without merit.
Deliberate fuckin ragebait to rile up the masses.

NIMBYS cannot be allowed to stall desperately needed housing, a complete planning overhaul is badly needed.

One objection or appeal shouldn’t hold up anything.

Interesting, this isn’t necessarily a NIMBY type situation – they’re basically asking for more information about the developer’s Part V obligations (ie to provide a certain portion of the site as social or affordable housing). They have just asked for more information on this.
> Mr Lynam and Ms Loughlin state that the Part V units identified by the applicant within Blocks A2 and A3 are “located in the most congested area of the development, with limited open space, within the northern corner of the subject site”.
They’re essentially saying the developer has put the social housing units in the worst part of the development. You can argue the merits of this objection, or question if it’s just a cynical move to disguise NIMBYism. However, I do think we need to avoid developers using our desperation for housing to ram through poor quality or suspect developments.

Whatever about the objection the idea that a one bed apartment would cost €569,892 is borderline criminal. You need a deposit of nearly €114000 as one beds normally require a 20% deposit. Madness.

How is the real story not “Council pays hilariously over the odds for social housing stock”? 600k for a 1 bed?
