Interesting read. It mentions a “bottom-up decision-making process” where institutional elites only gave support once the majority of society did. That contrast with the U.S. is striking. Here it often feels like policy is driven top-down by elites, lobbyists, and party interests, regardless of what most people want. As an American, it’s clear how broken our system is when public opinion rarely translates into political action.
