The Conservatives are weird with their leadership.
They chose Truss over Sunak them got rid of her in less than a lettuce for Sunak. Then they chose Kemi over Jenrick and they are getting ready to replace the former with the latter after about 5 lettuces.

I’m convinced they put Badenoch up there to absorb all the anger for the state they left the country in… Nobody with serious PM ambitions is going to touch the Tory leadership position for years.

With the Reform polling surge, whoever was leading the Conservatives post-election was unlikely to get too long to actually challenge Labour and Reform.
Badenoch never really struck me as someone they expected to lead a revival, more just someone to hold the bag and take responsibility for a while.

Not so much deckchairs on the titanic as lumps of shit in the shit pile. Doesn’t matter which lump you put on top, it’s still a pile of shit from top to bottom.

I wonder if there are defections coming, hence the panic by the parliamentary party to get someone else in

I will say this now (as I did about truss and badenoch) if you thought they were bad, wait until you see jenrick!
A truly nasty bit of work, devoid of empathy and clueless. He’s also corrupt on levels only partially reported. There’s a LOT of dirt to come.

How many leaders who became leader after losing an election go on to become PM?
None. The Tories will probably go through three leaders before the next General Election.

Could well he Badenoch’s legacy at the top-end of politics – not racist enough for a decent chunk of the Brit electorate.

It’s probably good for Labour as he will siphon off a few racist votes back to their natural home in the Tory party.

Why bother, the Tory’s will not win the next GE. Labour should win with a reduced majority, although it is possible Reform could do well. If Reform’s vote actually holds out then we could have a Reform majority or a Labour + ?? coalition.
When Tory’s lose the current leader quits. Kemi is just a placeholder like Hague, Duncan-Smith or Howard.

Classic Tory move can’t keep a leader for much more than a year.

It won’t make any difference. He’s just as useless.

My money is still on them keeping her until a year off the next election and Farage comes riding in on his white horse to win it for them.

Oh yes, because Robert ‘I was the minister of immigration but it’s not my fault’ Jenrick is much loved within the party…

Kemi is the opposite of Liz Truss. Truss thought she had no time and Kemi thought she had all the time.
In the mean time the politics stories are dominated by Labour and Reform.
The Tories are in a worse state after John Major left. They’ll be in the wilderness for several years whoever is leader.
