If they are going to do this, every person in the country should get that once off payment.
Are they extending this to all sw recipets. Or is this another case where you have to be on the payment for 12 months to qualify.
I always thought it was a lousey thing to do, not extending it. You could be unemployed for 10 months and not get it.
Someone unemployed 10 months is just as broke as someone unemployed 12 months.

Do they really count as Double Christmas payments? One is the actual Christmas Bonus [early in Dec] and the second one is the payment for the week between Christmas and New Year’s when the banks are closed.
So much for cutting out the one off measures? This is starting to feel like Celtic Tiger 2.0 where we spend money like drunken sailors.

This bonus should be tested those on disability, OAP’s, working family payments then it should be tripled.
For jobseekers it should only be paid to those actually actively seeking a job. Far too many people on the dole 3, 4 or 15 years with absolutely no intention to ever contributing to the exchequer.
Pensioners, yes!
I’d prefer they invest it towards programs to actually help people in a more meaningful way. I’m not of course referring to pensioners, but those who are able to work and aren’t.

Anything for hard working people ?
In the case of dole: you need to be on e.g. Jobseeker’s Allowance over 1 year to receive x2 xmas payment + fuel allowance, for some people that’s enough incentive to intentionally stay on the dole rather than genuinely seek work, close their claim, losing their cumulative total & these extra payments if they end up back on the dole again.
