      > 20 Tory councillors have announced they are defecting to Reform this morning. It comes ahead of day three of the Conservative’s annual conference in Manchester today.

      Rats leaving the sinking ship.

I think it’s time that we had a rule in this country that elected officials must resign if they want to switch parties. It wasn’t much of an issue in the past, with only three parties of any significance, but now the political landscape is becoming more fragmented, it shouldn’t be permissible to inflate a new party’s representation like this.

uniparty continues, reform should just rename themselves to the tory party at this point

If people think the conservatives did a bad job, they should just recognise that reform is full of ex-tories and not vote for them. But they will vote for these ex-conservatives regardless.

    5. Its not the Name which makes the party its the people.
So Reform is just a rebranded conservative party now ?
I do wonder if it will be any different or just the same old shit.

I’m sure the people who are voting reform because they dislike both the Tories and Labour are happy to hear this.

Reform is little more than a rebranding exercise for the Conservative party.

Everyone said the rats would jump ship Into reform With the Tories dead reform is Tories V2 nothing will ever change in this country except the flavour of right wing government

If one nation Toryism is dead then where do the one nation Tories go?

    10. Saint_Sin on

It was always a rebrand. Its just the new Tory party, no more.

      Reform voters, genuine questions:

Are you happy that a load of Tories (who were part of the government that ran the country for 14 years until last year), are joining Reform, the party that claims it’s anti-establishment?

Do you see this as becoming Tory 2.0?

And to be the trouble maker, if this was the 80s, do you think these guys would’ve voted for the same policies that destroyed working class areas that relied on pit and industry?

    12. Electricbell20 on

Does that mean they are evens with all the ones who have left, been pushed out and being investigated for misconduct?

Switching parties and not needing to have another election is bonkers. If I had voted for someone feckless enough to do this I’d be furious

“Vote Reform they are different from Tories and Liebour”

    15. Spamgrenade on

Worth noting that every single Reform council seat that has had to be contested again did not get won by Reform.

    16. Spamgrenade on

Boris Johnson completely purged the Tory party of any sense or decency, so this is no suprise.

    17. Wrong_Lever_1 on

I just can’t understand how idiots will vote for reform but don’t want to be called tories

    18. waawaaaa on

Same people who changed their vote from conservatives to reform will still vote reform as well. Same people different party.

Had they been any good, the tory party would not be where it is.
