Chat control and now this, using children to push for more control and regulation. She should be put to jail for this.

    2. OnIySmellz on

Denmark is also pushing for Chat Control and digital mass surveillance, so there is that

    3. Only 15? I’d say no social media until 21. And hopefully one day it will be implemented all across Europe.

    4. Spiritual_Eagle_5015 on

I was under the impression social media was already banned for under 13 or 15

    5. _Addi-the-Hun_ on

I unironically agree with this, same for phones in school in general. The social anxiety it causes is simply not worth the benefits imo

    6. Bobo3076 on

Great idea, completely unenforceable without breaching everyone’s privacy.

    7. silentspectator27 on

Maybe the Danish government should just have cameras on them 24/7 and see how they like it.

So not having kids on social media means they no longer need Chat Control for “protecting kids”, right?

      Right, Anakin?

    9. Not a good idea, growing up in a remote area plus being autistc I would have been incredibly isolated. They allowed me to find friends and community.
I think banning all content algorithms in social media for children would be more appropriate.
… That is if it were possible to introduce without surveillance of adults. Which it’s not. Another “won’t somebody think of the children” packaged bill

In order for this to happen it means that everyone must verify their age! Which means EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN DENMARK, has to upload their ID online! Just a few days ago Discord was hacked and personal ID`s were leaked!

    11. Future_Giraffe_6823 on

Denmark’s government is absolutely insane, not just for this but for ACTIVELY PUSHING CHAT CONTROL.

    12. Regulation of social media is desperately needed.

However, given this is the current Danish government, which is the main proponent of “chat-control”, it’s unlikely this proposal has anything to do with the well-being of children or benefiting Europeans in general.

Nice, another country introducing censorship under the pretext of “protection”. just like the Nazis.

    14. ZeroLegionOfficial on

yes i agree, teens are too brainwashed of what on social media, but chat control no.

Thanks god I’m not that age anymore I’d go crazy if some idiot would vote for that

I hope people can separate between ambition and execution here. Mass surveillance, chat control and sending your ID to the government is problematic in multiple ways, but so is kids (and adults) presence, or should one say addicition, to social media. There has to be a middle way forward.

    17. Money-Introduction54 on

They should ban social media for people over 35 instead. Society would be better for it.

Lazy bunch of idiots. Parenting should not be outsourced to the state.

    19. TheRunnyDentist on

Bad idea. This should be up to parents, not the state.

    20. mattymattymatty96 on

Should ban it for 55+’s aswell.

They believe EVERYTHING they read on it which is dangerous

    21. tylerthe-theatre on

*Round of applause. Save any up and coming kids while you can

    22. YouKnowMyName2006 on

Good idea Denmark. Not being sarcastic at all, social media can be very harmful for children.

    23. GetmyCakeForLater on

As a Swede I’ve always said, the Danish are inbred.

    24. Fabulous-Local-1294 on

Wonderful proposal. I wouldnt mind it one bit if it was banned for everyone under 18 even.

    25. Cute-Breadfruit3368 on

before praising Denmark of anything at all, let me remind you that they´re currently the most virulent spokespeople for Chat Control.

    26. General-Internal-588 on

Imo that’s a good thing if you don’t think too much about it

Imo that’s a bad thing if you look at the bigger picture. Denmark want chat control, want people under 15 to not speak online potentially making their own opinion and such, to scour people privacy online even more ect..  Denmark want a police state, they just need a tyrant to take control of it afterward

    27. tigerUA_ on

The same country trying to shove chat control down everyone else’s throats…

    28. Strongly doubt there is a feasible way to deny access.

Workarounds are plenty, social media companies don’t care as the EU won’t punish them enough as they fear retaliation by Trump.

    29. National_Play_6851 on

This would be a very positive move, Social Media has become hugely damaging. Devil is in the details of how they enforce it of course.
