192 km flight?? Just take a train, the journey will be shorter then waiting in the airport

Google Maps shows me 4hr connections with one change in Belfast by Train & Bus and even an occassional direct bus for 20 Euro
Was there really no alternative to a <200km flight service?

Seems unnecessary, what would be much better is trains or even a coach.

A better alternative to this is to expand and modernize Ireland’s rail system, which is awfully behind much of Europe and even the UK.

I didn’t realise Ireland’s railway network was so bad. Amazingly there are only 150 train stations in Ireland? That seems absurdly low? Even Wales has 223 and the railway network here is notoriously bad!

This is insane. It’s just a 3 hour drive. Just take a bus. Navigating the airport will take longer.Â

The problem is the roads north of the border, the A5 going south from Derry got knocked back again in the summer and in 2025 there still isn’t a dual carriageway the whole way from Belfast to Derry.

I thought Dublin airport was over capacity. That’s why the Irish government keeps telling Ryanair.
