What would be the delta between a business-as-usual poll? Just wanting to know how much lower it is as I suspect the French are generally quite critical of the President

Despite his unpopularity, Macron does not want to leave his post.
And the chances of impeaching him are slim, right ( ask French )?

Even without its full capacities, he’s still better than your average Fico / Orban / Putin / Trump / Xi, sorry authoritarian trolls

Seems like that snap election last year was a terrible idea on his part.

Macron made plenty of mistakes, but any French leader who’s going to be serious about solving the country’s financial crisis is going to hit these numbers or worse, no doubt.

as far as I understand, many voters are mad at him for going to the right, while not being able to pick up any fans on the right.
I also don’t think it helped backstabbing the left.

very high chances that the next french president will give absolutely 0 fucks about Ukraine

Shara and Erdoğan’s friend, I hope the French people will bury you in the ballot box in the first election.

The French people cannot come to term with the fact that their pension system is currently completely unsustainable and he’s the only one that can’t pretend everything is ok.

As an Irishman in London I’ve always been confused why the French disliked him so much.

Why is he still in charge with those poll numbers and a government that has dissolved several times? How does that work in France?

As a non-French, it seems that he is in a bad situation from both sides. On one hand, he needs to fix the country’s finances, so he can’t concede to the left. On the other hand, he has to deal with the far-right
Eryk0201 on
Well all this stuff with dissolving the parliament even when he had majority, then having to ally with the left to block far right from getting majority in the unnecessary repeated elections and then NOT making a government with the left but instead making minority liberal governments that required far-right support to pass budgets wouldn’t make me confident in his politics too lol.

My question would be, who right now could navigate the situation?
Parliament split in 3 parts who can’t work with each other, whose 3 leaders aren’t popular enough. An horrible financial situation with huge challenges to face: economic, geopolitic and technological.
The only way out I see is new parliamentary elections to maybe find a new equilibrium and then a technical/unitary government with an external non political president, which would be very hard in a presidential republic.
But I’m not french and I’m probably missing a lot of things. Any thoughts?

What’s crazy to me is he might be the most sensible leader around the world right now in my eyes. I hold him above most world leaders and all he gets is hate from his people and protest. He wants to fix the budget issue(some of his tax’s policies without the austerity on spending won’t work), create a military that’s capable of standing up to Russia without US support, & generally send the world in a positive direction with a moderate and sensible policy without the bias ideology of the left or right.
– American here generally have had amazing conversations with French people about macron in both Paris when I’ve visited and New York. Not saying they support him just good curious intellectual conversations I peoples views of him.

The problem is if you took that 59+23=82% and asked them if they are voting left or right you are gonna get a 50/50.
France is suffering because the economy sucks. That is it. Europeans are so concerned about the cultural tug of war between left and right but has zero ambitions to compete globally anymore in anything economically productive. Its an unproductive country surviving off its cultural capital and clinging on to its highly developed nations lifestyle expectations. The top 5 out of 10 French companies by market cap are luxury brands selling bags and perfumes.
Why should a country that is acting as a glorified airport duty free store supplier deserve money?

Jokes aside, internationally he’s held in quite high regard – his heart is in the right place, and he will be on the right side of history.
