Nel gruppo Facebook "Sei di Lovanio…" qualcuno ha postato questa foto, e ha detto "Vista dal Vismarkt" ma questo non è affatto possibile, dal Vismarkt si guarda direttamente la chiesa, non di lato. Penso anche che la chiesa non assomigli affatto alla chiesa di San Pietro a Lovanio. Dopo circa cinque suggerimenti, neanche i Gemelli possono aiutare, quindi chiedo qui: chi riconosce questa chiesa? Alcuni dicono che sia la chiesa di Diest, ma non credo che sia corretto neanche questo. Per gli stessi soldi c’è una chiesa da qualche parte in Lituania o qualcosa del genere. Ma se qualcuno li riconosce, per favore me lo faccia sapere.

St Pieters in Leuven. The painting is by Pierre Vervou, from the 2nd half of the 19th century. The roof we currently see on the bell “tower” is from after WW2, as that replacement roof was severely damaged, because in WW1 the roof was also destroyed, as was the baroque tower on the center of the cross.What we’re looking is the current jachthaven, as seen from Vaartkant Noord.
The Vismarkt in the center was already filled in around 1880, as were a lot of the arms of the Dijle.
The artist probably used some artistic liberty by somewhat enlarging the church, as it’s the focal point of the picture.
TLDR: Leuven, but not the Vismarkt-Vismarkt, but the end of the Leuvense Vaart (where they might have sold fish as well, as that was now the unloading place for waterborne traffic.
