But Connolly represented banks during bail out trials! That’s the *real* story, you know, how Connolly… did her job as was required. How dare she!
What party was responsible for bailing out those banks you might ask? Never mind that. Connolly represented them, that’s the *real* story.

Somehow I can’t see the Independent picking up this story.

Very curious how much this does or doesn’t get picked up outside of Ditch-adjacent circles.

I don’t know if I care, I expect this type of behaviour from FFG politicians.
This won’t change anyone’s voting intentions.
Anyone voting for FFG at this point doesn’t care about this type of behaviour.

Realistically should be a campaign sinker but probably won’t be. Interested to see how it will be reported on.

You don’t pay property tax on a business premise. This is why the Ditch is not a credible source. This was released to muddy the waters and hope something sticks. It is of zero journalistic merit. It won’t be picked up by other sources not because they don’t want to, but because the story is shite.

>“Fuck off and leave me alone” was her answer to The Ditch after admitting in 2023 she was using two upper-floor derelict flats as “storage for the office” at the same Cavan property without planning permission.

That’s rich coming from the editor at the ditch Roman Shortall who owed 50k to his landlord….
Ditch: “She was exempt from paying business rates (also known as commercial rates) till November 2024 while the property was used as her constituency office.”
So – it’s being used as a constituency for the new FG TD. So what exactly has changed in terms of it being used for a business? Why would she have to pay tax on it now, if it was exempt when she was using it?
If they are claiming that ‘November 2024’ is because of the election date – Humphrey’s would have still part of the government in the minister role until 23 January 2025 when the new government was finally elected, so her having an office still seems fairly normal unless there’s some specific technical definition of what a constituency office is allowed to be used for. There’s no such reference in the article though.
Even if there is, it still seems like they had announcements publically that it would continue to be used and so seems quite reasonable to assume this was decided privately sooner and possibly even within the 10 days mentioned.
“Are rates payable if the property is under renovations / closed for repairs?
If a property is under renovations or closed for repairs, you should contact us in
order that we can carry out an inspection. Rates are not payable for the period
that the property is under renovations, subject to verification that this is the case.”
So in all likelihood she just needs to inform the council of the fact she is renovating the property and she is exempt instead of the Ditch’s “criminal” nonsense. Even if it is just vacant the Council can write it off. Not much of a news story but par for the course with “The Ditch”.
*Also of note is that there is no way into the upstairs except through the ground floor from the street so hardly two derelict “rentable homes” as alleged previously by the Ditch.

I wonder about the all the people defending her crap tenure as minister and Orange order connections with justify this

Why is anyone taking anything seriously from the Ditch? It’s a pro Russian propaganda outlet which clearly tries to so division here. They have been caught lying numerous times. Also they are financed by the pompous self righteous TRINNERS BOY TWAT/CUNT Paddy Cosgrove
