      >But the administration has not settled on an overarching strategy.

So just another brain fart by the con man occupying the White House?

All the lives and years lost, to build the trust we had in the west… honestly kind of impressive of fanta menace to destroy that so fast.

Atleast it was a wake up call for europe and they stand more united than ever. Cant say the same with The “united” states of America.

Interesting that there are so many articles and so much discussion about how the EU and NATO can counter violations of their airspace, while Ukraine is currently seeing the most massive attacks on their energy infrastructure since the start of the war, e.g:

      * October 10: [BBC – Major Russian strikes cut power across Kyiv](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cvgq2vnxzlvo). Edit: [Map of last night’s attacks](https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/1o2t80a/todays_air_attack_on_ukraine/)
      * October 9: [Kyiv Independent – Russian strikes reportedly destroy over half of Ukraine’s gas output before winter](https://kyivindependent.com/russian-strikes-reportedly-destroy-over-half-of-ukraines-gas-output-before-winter/)

It’s almost as if Russia **wants** us to bicker and worry about NATO defenses instead of focusing on Ukraine’s defense.

Build strong armies and rely on yourself to defend your sovereignty?
Mind blown 🤯. Some counties here in Europe are so entitled. As if my statement above was not the way to go before the cold war

In the past 30 years NATO, by choice of us Europeans, became “America is our insurance policy.”

Now we are feeling bitter that America wants it to return to Cold War dynamic of article 3 obligations? Where we are responsible for defending ourselves? We had massive militaries during the cold war.

The coalition of the willing is already that formation. As trump himself said, they work on “NATO-like guarantees”. It is effectively, a European safety format without the US and without showstoppers like Hungary.

We don’t know how it plays out or whether it’s enough. But things are happening and we aren’t waiting for the north Americans to decide, whether American exceptionalism means America only.

EU leaders always communicate them trying to keep the US on board, but they are preparing for the alternative scenario.

The US bases in Europe could be used by the former host country and installations eg RAF Croughton, Lakenheath and Fylindales .

    8. I’ll tell you! We will completely isolate the US. We will stop sharing intel! We will stop providing our bases for USA’s theater needs. We will stop providing logistical support!

But just remember…. the US has waaaaay more enemies around the world. It has spent the last 70 years to strengthen its hegemony, and waged a couple of wars, that has radicalized lots of this blue marble – primarily against it. China, Iran, N-Korea, Russia – those are not small players.

Without EU, the USA wouldn’t last a year.

But yea, go f around and find out for yourselves!

EU is doing ok now, and with every passing day we are becoming more self-sufficient. In part, thanks to the USA becoming a very unreliable player! I’m specifically avoiding the word “partner”, because that ship has sailed imo….

NATO allies need to be planning and preparing as if the trump regime is imminently going to withdraw, failing to prepare is preparing to fail as they say – trump and whoever takes over after him are no longer supporters of NATO and cannot be trusted if a war does break out.
