If nothing else, you’d hope this puts the ‘St. Lucy and Her Two Tier Justice’ farrago to bed.

Stick to calling him a cunt. No reason to threaten to kill him.

    3. Goblin_Deez_ on

This is a tricky one, it’s always hard to know if a threat is genuine or if he was just being an idiot. At most he’ll probably just get probation.

Maybe *now* they’ll understand the difference between “freedom of speech” and “incitement to violence”, and why that councillor’s wife was locked up.

      >On 12 October Mr Farage uploaded a video to YouTube titled “the journey of an illegal migrant” which highlighted Khan and referenced “young males of fighting age coming into our country about whom we know very little”.

Well Farage is not wrong. We’re playing Russian roulette with who we’re letting in.

GB news preparing to have a whole year convo about this

Nigel the fascist farage is a cunt yes sir but let’s stick to calling him such and not giving him death threats

    8. His whole political career has been spent inciting violence and then surprised when he is threatened with violence.

    9. AdOrdinary232 on

Good. Doesn’t matter who the politician is, threatening murder is obscene.

We need a returns agreement with the Taliban, otherwise we’re stuck with people like this guy for their entire lives.

      Political violence is wrong.

The killing of Jo Cox was wrong.

The killing of David Amess was wrong.

The killing of Nigel Farage would be wrong.

    12. LisbonMissile on

Wait, all the right wing grifters on Twitter like Adam Brooks told us the lefty CPS would never pursue this because of two-tier policing?

    13. Soggy-Temperature744 on

All the article states is that he made gun fingers and said pop pop pop on a TikTok video? Is that it?

    14. terryjuicelawson on

So what do his supporters make of this. Thought it was a waste of time investigating mere “hurty words” said online. “Can’t even say the word pop any more! PC gone mad!”.

    15. oldelbow on

So many people want to use the word Fascist but don’t want to put their money where thier mouths are.

I look forward to the Lucy Connoly defenders demanding this be repealed /s

The reason we can’t deport to Afghanistan is? There is no more war there. By all accounts life is rather peaceful there now, albeit oppressive to women.

20 million people are helping police with their enquiries…

    19. pepperino132 on

This is the sort of thing that I *hope* we can all agree is completely unacceptable and has no place in our politics. I’m pretty much a lefty and abhore Farage’s rhetoric, but violence (or threats) isn’t going to bring people together. Like it or loathe it, he’s got a right to spout his bile and that’s an important liberty.

    20. alltheothersrtaken on

Hmm I wonder what the freedom of speech folks will make of this.

    21. Born2Rune on

Violence should not be the answer within Politics. Farage is a skid mark on this Country, but he should not be subject to violence against his life, etc.

Besides, this just gives his base more ammo so to speak. Don’t like him?, don’t vote for him…..simples.

ALmost impossible to guess sentencing without more information. The guidance is here:

Harm is a factor. We don’t know how upset Farage was. Or how upset he says he was.

We do know he was found guilty so no reduction for guilty plea (which is something that confuses people).

I’d guess B is the highest culpability level and guessing level 2 harm, that gives a 1 year custody starting point.

I have no idea if someone recently arrived can argue good character (no UK convictions but….)

    23. Boundish91 on

Death threats are not cool and immature.

There are other ways to handle Reform and Farage.

    24. Deadend_Friend on

What a wrong un’. Obviously this is this is the kind of guy we don’t want here and should be deported.

Issue if for so many people there’s no nuance, all the boat people are either like this guy or all angels who just want a better live. Truth if they are all different people with their own reasons for being here and some are gonna be grand and some are wrong ‘uns like this guy.

Why we need a through system to stop the wrong ‘uns and fairly consider those with genuine asylum claims quickly.

    25. Yeah don’t do this. Nobody deserves a threat against their life, not even Nigel “I’d pick up a rifle myself” Farage.

    26. FuzzBuket on

      > I come to England because I want to marry with your sister …. I’m coming to England. I’m going to pop, pop, pop.”

      >Mr Ratliff told the jury that while Khan said “pop, pop, pop” he had made “gun gestures” with his hand and headbutted the camera.

      >Khan had also pointed towards an AK-47 tattoo on his face to “emphasise he wasn’t joking”. …The prosecutor added: “If you’ve got an AK-47 tattooed on your arm and your face, it’s because you love AK-47s and you want the world to know that.”

Jail for  tiktok and a tattoo?   I’m surprised it went through without more supporting evidence.

Whether it’s this or that reform lady it does feel like as a society we just don’t know how to handle the legal landscape of social media. Don’t be fucking stupid would obviously be the starting point, I almost feel like incitement is the bigger crime; most of these social media personalities won’t do shit as they care about likes and views, but encouragement could lead to people who are less mentally stable following through.

Can you get community service for threatening to murder? Feels like a lot of these cases *are* people being actual idiots and need discouraging, but jail for edgy tiktoks or tweets feels a bit mad.
