The idea that it is not mandatory to cover every bit of every roof of a new build house in solar generating equipment is absolutely positively wild to me.
I am not sure micro generation gets the best bang for the buck. Generally things done at scale are cheaper.
And we have a fair number of wind farms that have cables inverters etc that are heavily used in windy winter but not in summer days.
