Brexit really destroyed the immune system of the your average Joe in Britain

Because we have forgotten every lesson of Covid.
I had to go into the office on Friday. Lady in front of my coughing and spluttering. Then she blows her nose with the wettest tissue I’ve seen in ages, and then she opens the door with the same hand. Stay home for gods sake, nobody wants you in the office in that state.

Short answer :
> “This is normal, it’s autumn after all,” says Prof Jonathan Ball, from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
The real mystery, however, is another part of the article :
> Covid is also doing the rounds, driven by two new variants – XFG, called Stratus by some, and NB.1.8.1, known as Nimbus.
Who is these “some” ? Why did they start giving cloud names to the covid variants ?

Because people refuse to stay home. It’s almost like a badge of honour for these cretins to come into the office spluttering and coughing everywhere. Always the useless ones who only come in to gossip too. WFH could have solved so many issues but nah, the corporate overlords need their rent money and the underclasses love being crabs in a bucket so if their job isn’t WFH, they hate anyone who has that luxury.

Maybe they should start wearing masks if they’re sick, you know, like a reasonable individual.

We are also forgetting that an average person has suboptimal hygiene when it comes to cleaning their hands and not touching their face or food with dirty hands.

Covid measurably damages my immune function. I got basal cell carcinomas two weeks after my last bout of Covid, which isn’t the end of the world but I’m not even 60 yet.
If that is any indication, I suggest everyone is getting more infections, inflammation and other health issues downstream of Covid. I wouldn’t be getting flu shots if it weren’t for Covid. Shingles shot is booked too. All these viruses tilt the body towards later neurological disorders, a recent meta analysis showed.

I think it says a lot about our species/culture that it’s still not a standard behavior to just wear a mask in public places while sick, not to mention avoid them if possible.

Societies of the west get older, flu is not nearly as dangerous when you’re young, the older people get the more sick they become. Flu was always here, but when there used to be more young people than older we didn’t notice it.

I read on Mallorca the ER are overcrowded because of flu and Covid patients. With the start into the holidays tomorrow, it will spread everywhere – I am sure.

It’s so frustrating that the covid vaccine is really expensive for those of us that aren’t eligible for a free one. Like damn, some of us can’t afford it!

These are all common conditions but we have a higher elderly population than at any time in history, and elderly can be seriously affected/killed by these conditions.
