  1. Not sure what you expect from the answers? It looks like a typical fake blackmail attempt that aims to get a victim to panic and pay money, before they comprehend that it is bogus. Flag it as pishing/scam attempt or ignore it.

Is this still a thing. Nah, no need. You can ignore that.

No, anybody can claim to have compromising material on you. If they actually had videos of you, wouldn’t they send them as attachment as proof that they exist

    Delete it, it’s just scam.

But you should change your password for the mail account. In fact, check if your password has been compromised (there are tools for that eg in Chrome)

Lol. This is coming from an university e-mail address as it seems. Maybe you can find out what the university behind this is and file a report to that student. He may get thrown out

Edit: if you plan on doing this, please check the email address carefully through headers.

That’s not phishing; that’s plain old extortion.

And no, you don’t have to worry about it. Firstly because the whole story is a lie, and secondly because we all know about your giraffe fetish anyway ;-).

No. It’s a common scam, they don’t have the password of your Mail-Account (edit: You blacked out that part. If this is your actual password, change it. If it’s an old one: you may have been victim of some data leaks in the past. If it’s not a known password: They’re just bluffing). It’s a classical blackmail, you don’t need to bother at all.
