What he do
there are some hot candidates such as Fico in Slovakia
Good. We need more of this and we need harsher punishments, not just 5 years in prison.
Hahah, get fucked you French version of Berlusconi
~~He should have just fled to some arab country like Craxi did~~
Insane how men can no longer commit criminal conspiracy in a case related to millions of euros of illicit funds from the late Libyan leader Col Muammar Gaddafi simply due to Woke.
Only 5 year for what he did is not enough
Learn from that, USA
I feel like there should be much more politicians behind bars, including heads of goverments.
May he be the first of many more.
Brazil: Hi five, my brother!
And of course he has a strong Hungarian heritage, way to go people (for context, I’m also Hungarian, I’m pissed because we’ve been setting negative records for decades now).
And in a few years Orbán will follow
Yeahhhhh 🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵
the way many medias are defending him is sincerely disgusting
I do hope, many more follow in his footsteps
I’m shocked Berlusconi never served jail time.
I feel like given the recent corruption history of many European countries, that list should be longer.
Nice
The title is incorrect. Croatian prime minister Ivo Sanader was in jail for a few years for, among other things, being bribed by Hungarian oil company to sell Croatian government owned oil company. He was captured while trying to run away on a border crossing.
He is not the first. Former Portuguese PM José Sócrates did serve 9 months of jail time before being moved to house arrest and released amidst all that shitshow.
Former PM of Romania, Adrian Nastase would like a word with who put that “the first” in the title.
How is it OK to post news like this without a link to a source?
Quelle indignité
Should’ve been part of a long list, but I’ll just say it’s insane that Berlusconi never went to prison for his ties with the Mafia
Bravo, France.
Only because the ÖVP’s and Sebastian Kurz’ connections to the Austrian justice system are still too good.
Let’s hope not the last. Looking at another infamous Hungarian.
Hey Romanians: maybe to try this to ex-PM Ciolacu…
*Olaf Scholz enters chat*
Silvio Berlusconi managed to avoid prison despite being sentenced to prison multiple times. Once due to paying to have sex with a minor, he was acquitted. Another for bribery and corruption, but the statute of limitations ran out before a final ruling was reached. He was convicted of tax fraud and sentenced to 4 years in prison, 3 of which were granted amnesty because of his advanced age, and instead of going to jail for the last year he had to do some unpaid community service work in an elderly care facility for a year, and he was allowed to stop 45 days early for good behavior.
LMAO who downvotes this? Does Silvio have bots out there defending him beyond the grave?
Trump is next hopefully
As a french I will just say : “PUTAIN OUAIS, SARKO ! VA DORMIRE EN TAULE SALE RACAILLE !”
This is how it’s done.
Really hope Fico will be second.
Άντε και στα δικά μας!
Imagine being born into a wealthy family, then your father makes the family even wealthier, and then you go on to do corrupt things while leading a country in your old age to make a few extra bucks.
What on earth posseses people to be so recklessly greedy is beyond me, honestly.
Oh oh, do Orban next!!!
This shouldn’t be historic, it should be standard. No one, not even a president, should be above the law.
Realistically, he won’t serve much time, if any. He’ll be let go afrer a few weeks/months because his tummy hurts or something. But it’s a symbolic outcome and honestly it’s better than nothing.
I am happy for the European checks and balances. This makes the French presidential institution stronger. More corrupt individuals should be behind bars to make our democracies stronger. Let’s go Europe!!!!
