Mid 90’s MTV was so cool. 🙂

But it is now long overdue of course.

O the early version was so good! just good music programs, clips, interviews etc. until it went to all non-music programs.

last time I watched it there was hardly any music left in MusicTV, and it was like 10 years ago

It was already dead when they stopped showing musicvideos

    5. Didn’t even know they were still broadcasting? Have they shown anything music related in the past 20 years?

    6. MTV turned to crap a long time ago.

I won’t shed any tears over it.

I thought it stopped anyway? Do they still do music still? Last time I saw it in the early 2000s it was all tv shows

And they killed off Viva…they might as well return the trademarks to European owners.

Though tbf, if I wanted some music in the background, I’d either put on Spotify or YouTube.

This is the saddest thing I’ve read today. You served us well!

Are music videos that relevant and important anymore? I feel like “Lyrics videos” is the new thing and I can’t blame the industry for going that route. It’s probably cheaper than renting a studio or getting a permit, and bring people in, equipment, editing, etc etc.

(What are some music videos I need to see for their artistry and uniqueness from the last 5 years?)

Hah, I don’t see MTV Europe to be among the closing channels and it should have been the only one closing (it barely has any music in it.

But the others? How much did they cost to run? It’s not like they had presenters or anything fancy and costly, just old videos and recordings on the loop. They were best to watch during commercial breaks on other channels.

Yeah we have options, but we grew up with those and they are destroying a legacy.

And Skydance/Paramount wants to buy WB? What will they do to that, close down HBO?

120 Minutes on Saturday night made me the music snob I am today.

They didn’t really play much music on there anymore anyways. Sad to see the end of another era in my lifetime.

With those silly reality shows, what else to expect. Should have kept to the Music videos and the Music video awards from the 90’s

    16. ***Hah, now look at them yo-yos, that’s the way you do it*** · You play the guitar on the MTV That ain’t workin’, that’s the way you do it.
