It’s really time to admit brexit was a massive disaster, right?

I’m kidding, obviously the IMF has no idea. I’ve had enough of experts!

I look forward to reading the full report.

Remember those “most improved” awards at school? Yeah…

    3. qwertygasm on

Yes but 20 people swam over from France so let’s burn everything down

Does this actually signal that the G7 is doing badly except for America?

And also the highest in inflation for 2026 and 2027, not something to celebrate

Ah yes, growth without progress. Modern Britain. Where the GDP goes up but wages don’t keep up with inflation and the cost of living skyrockets.

Profits are up, dividends are healthy, Londons financial sector is ticking along nicely but real wages are still lower than they were before 2008 when adjusted for inflation. So who gives a fuck?

Congrats to the corporations and asset owners I suppose.

    7. Let’s see the gymnastics this sub will make to spin this into negativity and misery

They take a group of seven countries and then compare their relative growth, which is within a fraction of a percentage point of tiny “growth” mainly driven by inflation. These headlines are pathetic. This doesn’t tell us anything useful to understand the economy. The media’s coverage of economics is a complete joke.

I’d much rather compare ourselves against a larger group than the G7 but we aren’t doing terrible.

If we compare ourselves to the G20 we are forecasted at 13/20th for GDP rate.

G7 is okay for short term comparisons but I’d prefer if we looked at the bigger picture.

We can do so much better.

Watch us perform at -0.1% beneath the forecast next quarter and the rags convince 60% of us to vote Reform.

Why does Rachael Reves always look like someone to the side of the camera has asked her if she wants to see the specials menu?

Imagine how well we’d be doing if Brexit didn’t happen

    13. MAXSuicide on

But, I thought the smart, sexy, successful people were all leaving, replaced by the unwashed masses of the barbarian hordes?

Hush now. I want another article on how Rachel Reeves is a failure, Starmer being a dull tory in a red tie, and how another boat ended up on a beach in Kent.

Good for them. What will change for your average UK citizen?

Nothing. Things are still ridiculously expensive and not value for money

    15. TheCharalampos on

A growing economy with extreme wealth inequality means very little to most of it’s citizens.

    16. lukethenukeshaw on

So why’s unemployment going up, why’s our taxes going up and why’s my pay not increasing. I’m pretty sure the IMF are just rewarding Starmer for being a puppet of the world order

    17. Saw_Boss on

Great. Feels like we heard that one all through the Tory years.

    18. So the ultra wealthy are getting more ultra wealthy whilst the rest of us continue to wonder if we can afford our weekly shopping then?

    19. Luke_4686 on

Important to note that inflation remains extremely high and if you read the report it suggests more that the other G7 countries are doing badly rather than were doing really well
