Just lifting from the government website – [https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-has-approved-enough-clean-energy-to-power-75-million-homes](https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-has-approved-enough-clean-energy-to-power-75-million-homes)

This is the 17th solar farm approved since the start of this government. The total energy production of these sites by themselves will produce the equivalent output to meet ~20% of our domestic household consumption.

Labour should be getting at least some praise for the efforts they are making on the energy front. Its a huge but underspoken issue in this country, our energy prices are affecting pretty much everything. With £40bn recently announced investment into nuclear power as well I think they are putting us on a good track for a long-term sustainable energy future for the UK.

Hopefully someone can educate me, but I don’t really understand why more solar capacity is being added? The demand on sunny days is already negative and without a huge amount of energy storage capability, surely more capacity is just wasted? We need sources capable of delivering in the winter like wind surely? I hope I’m wrong!

They should restrict these to poor quality agriculture areas not in areas such as this – this is open flat land in the most arable rich region of the country.
